Built for general-purpose applications, the AMD-based ASUS RS501A-E12-RS4U Server features a single-socket design in a 1U form factor. It supports 5th or 4th generation AMD EPYC processors, including those with AMD 3D V-Cache technology. Supported processors can provide up to 192 Zen 5c cores, a 12-channel memory architecture, speeds up to 5200MHz, and a maximum TDP of 450W. The server's single AMD CPU supports 24x DDR5 memory slots, for up to 3TB of memory. The front panel includes 4x 2.5-inch hot-swappable bays, designed for all-flash 2.5” drives. Additionally, the motherboard offers 2x M.2 sockets, supporting cards with up to a 22110 form factor in either Gen5 x4 or SATA mode.
The RS501A-E12-RS4U Server features multiple PCIe 5.0 slots to meet the demands of AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads, including supporting up to 2x single-slot active or passive GPUs, and Xilinx Alveo accelerators. There are 3x PCIe 5.0 slots supported in two risers, including a single PCle Gen5 x16 slot as well as 2x PCle Gen5 x16 slots featuring low-profile, half-length form factors in a butterfly riser. One of these slots has a x16 link while the other supports a x8 link. This system also supports a single OCP 3.0 slot. Compatible CPUs supported on this system feature a high TDP of up to 450W and are equipped with an enhanced-volume air-cooling (EVAC) heatsink for heat dissipation. This system is powered by either 1+1 redundant 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum power supplies or 1+1 redundant 1600W 80 PLUS Titanium power supplies.
The web-based ASUS Control Center allows users to manage the hardware inventory, software upgrades, and other aspects. Administrators can manage workstations, servers, and other commercial goods in one location. Via the ASPEED AST2600 module included on the motherboard, the ASUS ASMB11-iKVM also offers remote management of the system but a license is required.
