Offering an ideal 2U building block form factor, the Dell PowerEdge XE9640 server is optimized for dense supercomputer and HPC acceleration workloads and applications. CPUs offering a high core count of up to 64 cores in each of the dual 5th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors leverages the powerful GPU accelerators to tackle any workload. The machine offers either 4x NVIDIA H100 700W SXM GPUs, fully interconnected with NVLink, or 4x Intel Data Center Max GPU series 1550 600W OAM GPUs, fully interconnected with XeLink.
Powered by 2800W Titanium 200-240 VAC or 240 VDC, hot swap redundant power supplies, the PowerEdge XE8640 server supports up to 4x 2.5-inch NVMe SSD drives, with a maximum storage capacity of up to 61.44 TB. Liquid cooling with an internal manifold for the GPUs and processors, as well as 4x sets of high performance (HPR) gold grade dual module fans keep the processors cool. All fans are hot swap for easy replacement and upgrade. This high-performance server is designed for deep learning training, scientific research, data analytics, and more. Depending on the chosen memory configuration, memory module capacity differs. The system has 32 DDR5 DIMM slots. However, only 16x DIMM slots and up to 1TB of memory are supported, with 8x DIMMs per processor using Intel GPUs. Using NVIDIA GPUs, all 32x DIMM slots can be outfitted with DDR5 RDIMM memory modules providing up to 2TB of memory. Up to 4x PCIe x16 Gen5 slots can be installed for additional NICs or HD controllers. A single RJ45 iDRAC ethernet port is dedicated to manage the system. This platform supports 2x M.2 SSDs on the front panel for more storage options or to boot the OS.
