As Dell’s first 8-way GPU server, the Dell PowerEdge XE9680 server is designed to drive cutting-edge AI, machine learning, and deep learning neural network applications. Powered by 6x hot-swap redundant 2800W Titanium PSUs, the server supports dual 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 64 cores per processor. The front panel sports up to 10x front-facing x16 full-height, half-length PCIe Gen 5 slots and up to 8x 2.5-inch NVMe SSD drives. An optional OCP 3.0 card can be installed for additional network ports and link speeds. Under the hood, the chassis supports 32x DDR5 memory RDIMM slots for a maximum capacity of up to 4TB and speeds up to 4800 MT/s.
The system can also be outfitted with up to 16x EDSFF E3.S thin NVMe drives for increased storage capacity. Offering 1.5x more GPU-GPU communication capacity than the previous generation, training performance can is improved. Using NVIDIA NVLink technology, users can choose between 8x NVIDIA HGX H100 80GB 700W SXM5 GPUs or 8x NVIDIA HGX A100 80GB 500W SXM4 GPUs for a balance of performance and power.
