Performance

The Gigabyte E163-Z30 server supports a single 4th or 5th generation AMD EPYC processor from the 9004 or 9005 series family. The 9005 4nm technology CPU supports up to 192 cores and 384 threads, plus a maximum processor thermal design point (TDP) of up to 400W. This CPU features a 12x memory channels for the 12x DIMM slots available on the MZ33-DC0 motherboard. The system is powered by dual 800W 80 PLUS Platinum redundant PSUs. It can be used to support various business-critical workloads including hosting an Intranet, general file storage, use as a shared Internet connection or virtual server, plus real-time monitoring and support for IoT devices on the Edge.

Memory

With 12x DDR5 memory module slots and 12x memory channels supported by a single-processor, each memory module occupies a memory channel for maximum bandwidth. When all 12x DIMM slots are loaded with 256GB 3DS RDIMM modules, the E163-Z30 system supports up to 3TB of memory. When standard RDIMMs are installed, memory modules up to 128GB per slot can provide up to 1TB of memory. The maximum memory speed supported can reach up to 4800MHz.

Storage

There are 2x drive trays with lime green tabs on the front of the Gigabyte E163-Z30. The dual bays can be outfitted with 2.5” hot-swappable Gen4 NVMe, SATA, or SAS drive types. A SAS card is required for SAS devices support. Under the hood, there is an ultra-fast M.2 slot with a PCIe Gen3 x4 interface that can support 2280 or 22110 form factors.

Expansion

The server supports 2x PCIe Gen5 x16 expansion slots and 2x OCP 3.0 Gen5 x16 mezzanine slots that can be accessed through the rear of the chassis. The OCP mezzanine cards can support a number of different port connections and data transfer speeds. There is a single 1Gb/s LAN port via the Intel I210-AT controller plus a dedicated management port on the back panel.

Summary

The Gigabyte E163-Z30 Server delivers impressive multi-processor performance with just single AMD EPYC 9004 or 9005 series processor. Although it offers features that are very helpful for networking and edge applications, this platform is also a great choice for many common business applications. The 1U system houses 2x SFF hybrid bays and 12x DIMM slots with up to 3TB of memory to help businesses grow.
