4th Generation AMD EPYC 9004 series processors with up to 128 cores, 256 threads per CPU, and a cTDP of up to 300W at ambient 35°C are supported by the dual-socket, 4U Gigabyte G493-ZB3 server. Additionally, those featuring AMD’s 3D V-Cache Technology are also compatible. A configurable thermal design power (cTDP) rating of 300W is supported with a maximum TDP of 400W under restricted thermal circumstances. 48x memory module slots, provide a maximum of up to 12TB with 3DS RDIMM modules or 4TB using standard RDIMMs. In order to manage demanding workloads, the server has 12x 2.5" Gen5 NVMe/SATA/SAS hot-swappable bays, as well as 2x M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 slots.
One CPU powers 2x NVMe hard drives, and the second CPU supports 2x more NVMe SSDs. The remaining 8x NVMe drives are supported by Broadcom PEX89144 switches. This system offers up to 8x PCIe Gen5 x16 full-height, full-length slots for GPUs made by AMD, NVIDIA, XILINX, and Qualcomm. High speed computing, AI, AI training, and AI inference can all benefit from the 8x PCIe Gen5 x16 slots on the system specifically for GPUs. 4x more PCIe 5.0 x16 slots provided on the back and 2x on the front panel, provide additional options for NICs.
AMD's 5nm 'Zen 4' architecture is leveraged by the G493-ZB2 GPU server to deliver 128GB/s bandwidth in PCIe x16 lanes for improved I/O throughput. Redfish API, SuperDoctor 5, Super Diagnostics Offline, and IPMI 2.0 are some of the tools used to remotely and locally manage the platform, including fan speed, CPU temperatures, and other aspects. The system leverages Gigabyte’s SmaRT technology with the 3+1 redundant 3000W (240V) 80 PLUS Titanium power supplies, preventing data loss and outages caused by power shortages.
