The Gigabyte H262-NO0 server is a high-density platform that supports 4x rear mounted dual-socket server nodes. Part of Gigabyte’s high-density server line up, each node supports dual 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 40 cores and up to 4TB of memory, for a total capacity of up to 16TB system wide. 24x hybrid storage bays up front are divided equally between the 4x server nodes.
Designed for hyperconverged infrastructures (HCI), and use as a hybrid/private cloud server, the Gigabyte H262-NO0 server delivers 4x separate server nodes in a 2U chassis. Specific applications include file storage, database, ecommerce, and website hosting on the cloud side, plus edge computing, testing and development, virtual desktop infrastructure and remote data center management to name a few. With 4x dual socket server nodes powered by Intel’s 3rd generation Xeon Scalable processors, this is a highly adaptable appliance suitable for a variety of workloads. The system is powered by dual 2200W 80 PLUS Platinum power supply units offering 1+1 redundancy.
Each of the 4x server nodes can support 1x or 2x 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with a thermal design power (TDP) rating of 270W. At this TDP, processors with up to 40 physical cores and 80 virtual threads can be installed in each socket for up to 80 physical cores per node. 3rd generation processors also offer 8-channel memory architecture plus PCIe 4.0 for improved bandwidth for I/O and NVMe storage.
With 16x memory modules per server node, and 8-channel memory architecture, the Gigabyte H262-NO0 server can support up to 4TB per node and 16TB system wide. Supported memory includes Registered DIMMs (RDIMM), Load-Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM) and their 3D counterparts, which have a higher dram density for more memory per module.
24x storage bays on the front of the chassis can be outfitted with SAS, SATA or Gen4 NVMe storage devices depending on the workload. The drive bays are evenly divided between the 4x server nodes, each of which also supports a SATA DOM (Disk on Module). Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) is supported and provides a hybrid software/hardware solution for NVMe storage devices. A SAS card is required for support of SAS storage devices. An M.2 extension card is optional.
Each of the 4x server nodes has 2x risers each with a PCIe 4.0 half-length, low-profile x16 slot with a x16 bus for maximum throughput. In addition, each of the node servers have a mezzanine slot with a PCIe Gen 3 x8 bus for an OCP 2.0 card that supports a number of different ports and connection speeds. 2x integrated 10GbE LAN ports via Intel X710-AT2 are available on each of the 4x server nodes. However, the OCP mezzanine slot shares bandwidth with the integrated onboard 10GbE LAN ports, which are disabled if an OCP mezzanine card is installed. A dedicated management port is also found on each of the server nodes but a single chassis management controller (CMC) global management port adjacent to the power modules enables administrators to manage all nodes with less cables and switches.
With 4x separate server nodes, Gigabyte features the CMC for multi-node monitoring from a single port. CMC accesses the integrated ASPEED AST2600 baseboard management controller (BMC) in each of the server nodes and requires less switches, cabling, and is easier to manage through a single interface by providing a ring topography connecting all rack mounted servers—not to mention dramatic cost savings. Alternatively, Gigabyte offers the Management Console for a single server or small cluster of servers like those supported on Gigabyte’s high-density platforms. The Gigabyte Server Management suite also provides assorted tools for Administrators to manage multiple server deployments and large server clusters.
Offering superb capabilities for hyper-converged infrastructures and hybrid/private cloud applications, the Gigabyte H262-NO0 server delivers 4x dual socket server nodes in a 2U chassis. With support for 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, each server node can be outfitted with up to 4TB of memory for up to 16TB total with all nodes at capacity. With hybrid storage up front supporting SATA, SAS or Gen4 NVMe drive types this platform offers the flexibility to adapt to a number of different workloads, while providing significant cost savings.
