Designed for standard networking applications, the Gigabyte R152-P30 server features a single socket with an Ampere Altra and Altra Max processor offering up to 128 processing cores. At full capacity, it can support up to 4TB of memory. 10x up front hybrid storage bays can be outfitted with SAS, SATA or NVMe storage devices.
With just a single processor, the Gigabyte R152-P30 server can still deliver up to 128 computing cores that can be applied to a range of networking tasks such as, file storage, hosting an Intranet, file access via VPN or as a shared Internet connection. This is a highly flexible platform, that will also provide a quick ROI with only a single processor providing 2x cores of a comparable dual-socket Intel or AMD-based system. With a high-core count and support for up to 4TB of memory, this system also has the bandwidth for use as a virtual server. 2x 80 PLUS Platinum PSUs provide fail-safe redundant power to the system.
Either an Ampere Altra Max or Ampere Altra CPU can be installed. Altra Max is the second generation and offers up to 128 processing cores while the first-generation Ampere Altra has up to 80 processing cores. Ampere’s CPUs are based on an ARM architecture with a reduced instruction set computer architecture or RISC and offers a different design approach compared to the x86 architecture found on Intel processors. They offer lower power consumption in additional to lower heat generation, while still delivering speed and for high-performance computing applications.
Load-Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM) or Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) are supported on this system. With 8-channel memory architecture and 16x DIMM slots, at full capacity it can host up to 4TB or either RDIMMs or LRDIMMs. Memory speeds of up to 3200MT/s are supported.
6x of the 10x 2.5" storage bays up front on the Gigabyte R152-P30 server support SAS and SATA drive types, while the other 4x can be outfitted with NVMe hot-swappable HDDs or SSDs. Support of SAS drives is through a SAS RAID CRAO338 card that occupies the OCP 2.0 mezzanine card slot. NVMe drives are supported via onboard NVMe ports. The system also supports 1x or 2x M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen4 x4 drives supporting 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110 cards on the system board.
In addition to the OCP 2.0 mezz card slot with an installed SAS RAID card, there is a single PCIe Gen4 full-height, half-length x16 slot. It can be used for additional network or HD controllers. There are also 2x PCIe 4.0 ports on the system board that can be used to host 2x ultra-fast NVMe M.2 drives for support of the OS.
Compatible with the AMI MegaRAC SP-X web interface, the system has an ASPEED AST2500 baseboard management controller accessible from a dedicated management port on the back of the system. Gigabyte also provides a few management options with the Gigabyte management Console and Gigabyte Server Management or GSM. Both are designed to provide Administrators with the tools they need to manage either one single server using the Management Console, which comes pre-loaded, or for several servers using GSM. GSM is also compatible with the integrated platform management interface (IPMI) and Redfish.
Featuring a single Ampere Altra and Altra Max processor, the Gigabyte R152-P30 server can deliver the computational performance of a dual-processor system. Designed for networking applications, this system can deploy up to 4TB of memory supported by 10x hybrid drive bays that can be outfitted with SAS, SATA and NVMe storage devices, providing tiered storage.
