The Gigabyte R152-Z32 Server is a 1U server compatible with a single 3rd or 2nd Generation AMD EPYC Series Processor. There are a total of 16x DIMM slots on the system board, which support DDR4 memory modules. 10x 2.5-inch NVMe hot-swappable SSD drive bays are accessible from the front of the system. For expansion purposes, the rear of the houses a single PCIe Gen4 x16 full-height, half-length slot. The system is powered by dual 1100W redundant 80 PLUS Platinum power supplies.
Designed for networking applications in a compact form factor, the Gigabyte R152-Z32 Server houses a single processor. It is compatible with AMD’s 7003 series EPYC Processors as well as the 7002 series CPUs. 16x DIMM slots support up to 4TB of memory at full capacity. On the front of the system there are 10x 2.5-inch NVMe hot-swappable SSD drive bays. Dual 1GbE LAN ports via the Intel I350-AM2 are available on the rear of the system along with a single 10/100/1000 management LAN port. A PCIe Gen4 x16 slot is available on the rear. The system is powered by dual 1100W 80 PLUS Platinum power supplies in a redundant 1+1 configuration. The original build of this system supported a 1st or 2nd Generation AMD EPYC CPU with rev.100. Rev.A00 enables support for the 3rd Generation AMD EPYC 7003 series processors.
Rev.A00
Rev.A00 was the first update to the Gigabyte R152-Z32 server, allowing support for a single AMD EPYC Rome (7002) or Milan (7003) Processor to be installed. The configurable Thermal Design Point (cTDP) is limited to 240W with conditional support for certain CPUs up to 280W. This thermal range includes CPUs with a physical core count up to 64x and 128x virtual threads.
Rev.100
Rev.100 is the initial release and support 1st or 2nd Generation AMD EPYC Processors with a TDP of 225W and cTDP up to 240W. The 1st generation processors have a maximum physical core count of 32x physical cores and 64x virtual threads. The 2nd generation processors increase the core count to 64x cores for increased performance.
The single CPU socket on this system supports up to 16x DIMM slots using AMDs 8-channel memory architecture. DDR4 memory modules are supported on this system with memory speeds of 3200MHz or 2933MHz. Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) or Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM) are compatible with this system, using a maximum memory module capacity of 128GB. A 3rd Generation AMD EPYC processor allows for 3DS RDIMMs or LRDIMMs to be installed with a maximum memory capacity of 256GB per module.
This system includes 10x 2.5-inch NVMe hot-swappable SSD drive bays. An additional two M.2 slots are available on the system board for fast access storage or OS installation.
A single full-height, half-length PCIe Gen4 x16 slot is available on the rear of the Gigabyte R152-Z32. Dual M.2 slots with a PCIE 3.0 x4 interface can be found on the system board and can be used to support the OS in mirror mode for redundancy. 2242, 2260, or 2280 form factor cards are supported. A mezzanine slot with PCIe Gen3 x16 bandwidth (Type 1, P1, P2, P3, P4) can provide options for connectivity with the rest of your IT infrastructure with an optional installed OCP 2.0 card.
Gigabyte’s management features are available on this system via the Gigabyte Management Console (AMI MegaRAC SP-X) web console. This grants access to sensors, event logs, remote access, and other important functionality. The integrated AST2500 management controller provides web-based GUI for remote system management. Another application offered free of charge is Gigabyte Server Manager (GSM) which can manage multiple servers or large clusters of servers by leveraging the Gigabyte Management console in each appliance.
In a 1U chassis, the Gigabyte R152-Z32 Server offers a single CPU socket compatible with 2nd or 3rd Generation AMD EPYC series processors. 16x DIMM slots on the system board are compatible with DDR4 memory and can provide up to 4TB of memory. Up to 10x 2.5-inch NVMe hot-swappable SSD drive bays are available on the front of the system. System expansion is achieved on the via a single PCIe x16 Gen4 slot on the back of the system. This platform is designed for networking applications like use as a general file server, remote access via VPN, a shared Internet connection and many other business critical workloads.
