At 1U, the Gigabyte R163-Z30 server can be equipped with a single AMD EPYC 9004 or 9005 series processor. The 4nm 'Zen 5' architecture supports PCIe 5.0 lanes and 12x DDR5 memory channels. CPUs with up to 192 physical cores and 384 virtual threads with a maximum cTDP of up to 400W can be installed. With 12x DIMM slots on the system board, it can provide up to 3TB of RAM. Depending on the revision, the 4x LFF hot-swappable drive bays on the front panel can be outfitted with 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch Gen4 NVMe, SATA, or SAS drives.
Under the hood, 2x FHFL PCIe x16 slots as well as 2x additional OCP 3.0 x16 slots for alternative NICs are provided on the PCIe 5.0 ready platform. A single M.2 slot with a PCIe Gen3 x4 interface supporting 2280 or 22110 cards can be deployed for additional storage or to boot the operating system. Users can utilize the Gigabyte Management Console, which comes pre-installed on each server, to manage and maintain a server or a small cluster. For multiple servers or larger cluster of servers, Gigabyte offers Gigabyte Servers Management or GSM. Once the servers are operational, administrators can utilize the browser-based graphical user interface to control and monitor each server's health in real-time. This system is designed for standard networking applications such as uses as a shared file server, a shared VPN connection, use as a virtual server, and a shared Internet connection to name a few.
