The 12-bay Gigabyte R163-Z35 Server is powered by a single AMD EPYC 9005 series processor. This CPU leverages a 4nm architecture technology, up to 192 cores and 384 threads, and a cTDP of up to 300W at ambient 35°C. Under specific thermal conditions, the cTDP can be increased to 400W. 12x hot-swappable 2.5-inch drives, compatible with Gen5 NVMe, SATA, or SAS4 configurations line the front panel. Note that support for SAS devices requires an additional SAS card.
Up to 3TB of DDR5 memory can be installed when all 12x memory slots are filled with 256GB 3DS RDIMMs, or up to 1TB with 96GB standard RDIMMs. Supported CPUs features a 12-channel memory architecture paired with 12x memory module slots on the system board for 1 DIMM per channel (1DPC). With 1DPC, memory modules are capable of achieving speeds up to 4800 MT/s. For expansion, the server provides 2x FHHL PCIe Gen5 x16 slots accessible via riser cards, and 2x OCP 3.0 Gen5 x16 slots at the rear. The system board includes a single M.2 slot with a PCIe Gen3 x4 interface, accommodating 2280/22110 cards for versatile storage expansion or to boot the OS. It supports NCSI function through a 1x 1Gb/s LAN port with Intel I210-AT, plus the Aspeed AST2600 controller. The system is designed to support standard networking and use as a hybrid/private cloud server.
Each server is equipped with the Gigabyte Management Console, which is pre-installed, providing users with a powerful tool to manage and maintain individual servers or small clusters. For larger environments or multiple server deployments, Gigabyte offers Gigabyte Server Management (GSM). This tool allows administrators to monitor and manage server health in real-time through a user-friendly, browser-based graphical interface. Additionally, there are two revisions of this platform, each offering different power supply options.
