Featuring unique upfront hybrid storage with 4x 3.5-inch drive bays and 4x 2.5-inch drive bays, the Gigabyte R182-M80 server can be outfitted with either 1x or 2x 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. This is a 1U platform with 32x DDR4 DIMM slots that is designed for networking applications.
Designed for networking, the Gigabyte R182-M80 server is a general server to securely manage files and applications for office environments. Applications include file access via VPN, Shared Internet, file storage, and virtualization to name a few. At only 1U this server is an easy fit with your existing network offering a hybrid storage configuration with two sets of storage form factors. Dual 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors support a high-density memory configuration and support PCIe 4.0 for twice the throughput compared with PCIe 3.0.
One or two 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors can be installed on this system providing up to 40 physical cores and 80 virtual threads with the Platinum family. Gold processors will provide up to 32 cores. Both feature 8x memory channels and support for memory speeds of up to 3200MHz, and PCIe 4.0 for twice the bandwidth than that provided by PCIe 3.0.
Each socket supports 16x memory modules for 32x active memory modules slots in a dual processor configuration. With 8x channel memory, each channel supports up to 2x memory modules, with memory speeds ranging from 3200/2933/2666 MHz. Standard registered (RDIMM) memory modules up to 64GB each can be installed, with standard load-reduced memory modules limited to capacities of 256GB each. 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules provide the highest capacity at up to 256GB per module for a total capacity of up to 8TB of memory.
Hybrid storage is supported on the R182-M80 server for SAS, SATA and NVMe storage devices. 4x 3.5-inch storage bays on the bottom front of the chassis support SATA or SAS hot-swappable drives, while 4x more 2.5-inch storage bays just above support SATA or NVMe storage devices. SAS implementations will require a SAS card. Virtual RAID on CPU (vROC) is also supported for implementations using SSDs and NVMe storage devices. VROC and the system board itself offers limited RAID functions for SATA drives of 0, 1, 5, and 10. VROC is limited to Intel SSDs only with this platform.
There are 2x full-height, full-length PCIe Gen4 x16 PCIe slots on the system board, plus two OCP mezzanine slots that support a network status connectivity indicator (NCSI) function. One of the OCP mezzanine slots supports an OCP 2.0 version with a Gen3 x16 connection, and the other supports an OCP 3.0 mezzanine slot with a Gen3 x8 slot.
Outfitted with an integrated Aspeed AST 2600 baseboard management controller, this system uses the Gigabyte Management Console based on the AMI MegaRAC SP-X for general management of the system. Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) can manage clusters of servers simultaneously over the Internet and is provided free-of-charge. GSM complies with integrated platform management interface (IPMI) 2.0 and Redfish standards.
Offering powerful CPU, memory and storage options in a 1U chassis, the Gigabyte R182-M80 server is ideal for use in standard networking applications. It can be used for file storage, as a virtual server, host an Intranet of provide file access via VPN. There are a number of options in the R182 family of servers that can provide tailored support for your unique workloads.
