Part of Gigabyte’s rack server line up, the 10-bay Gigabyte R182-NA0 server is easy to install and delivers impressive performance with dual 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. This is classified as a networking server for common applications including use as a shared Internet connection, file storage, intranet hosting, file access via VPN, and use as a virtual server.
Designed for use as a networking server, the Gigabyte R182-NA0 server offers dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 3rd generation, code name Ice Lake. Dual ROM architecture, that stores the baseboard management controller (BMC) and BIOS, ensure the system can reboot with a backup in the event the primary ROM chip fails. Cold redundancy is another feature ensuring greater power efficiencies by reducing power consumption when the total system load falls below 40% utilization. Dual 1300W Platinum redundant PSUs power the system.
3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors offer significantly improved performance with more cores, more memory channels, more PCIe lanes, and PCIe 4.0, which offers twice the throughput compared to PCIe 3.0. As a result, PCIe 4.0 offers significantly more I/O support as well, with the option of installing 1 or 2 open compute project (OCP) cards that won’t take away from other expansion options that can be installed in the PCIe slots.
This system supports standard and 3DS registered (RDIMM) and load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules in 32x DIMM slots. Each processor supports 16x memory module slots for 2x DIMMs per channel and transfer speeds of up to 3200MT/s. 3DS RDIMMs and LRDIMMs will provide the highest capacity at up to 8TB of memory, while standard DIMMs will provide about half that capacity depending on your choice of RDIMMs or LRDIMMs.
10x storage bays line the front of the system and are supported by a hybrid backplane compatible with SATA, SAS and Gen 4 NVMe hot-swappable HDD and SSD drive formats. A SAS controller is required for support of SAS drives. SAS drives offer 12Gb/s transfer speeds, while SATA drives deliver half that at 6Gb/s.
In addition to the optional OCP cards, the R182-NA0 server also supports 2 full-height, half-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slots. The OCP mezzanine card slots include an OCP 3.0 with PCIe Gen4 x16 bandwidth from CPU_0 and an OCP 2.0 mezzanine slot with PCIe Gen 3 x8 bandwidth supported by the 2nd CPU. Both support a network connectivity status indicator (NCSI) to indicate whether the system has successfully connected to the network for Intranet or Internet connectivity. OCP offers several options for multiple port connections and connection speeds.
Gigabyte offers optional free-of-charge management software suites depending on the configuration of your network resources. Gigabyte management Console is used for a single server or small cluster of servers, while Gigabyte Server Management can manage clusters of servers simultaneously over the Internet. The latter is compatible with integrated platform management interface (IPMI) and Redfish standards offering a complete range of utilities to manage your systems. Management of the system is the dedicated mLAN port on the back of the chassis.
Offering high performance compute provided by one or two 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Gigabyte R182-NA0 server delivers impressive performance for general networking applications. This is a highly flexible system with significant memory storage capacity at up to 8TB in just a 1U form factor that can easily fit in with your existing hardware. Gigabytes Cold redundancy, automated fan controls, and free-of-charge management suites also provide greater power efficiency and a noticeable cost savings.
