Featuring 10 hybrid storage bays up front, the 1U Gigabyte R182-NA1 server, is designed to support mission critical business networking applications. Outfitted with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors, this system can support up to 32 DDR4 DIMM slots plus two PCIe x16 slots in back for high-speed I/O cards or superfast PCIe storage options.
Designed for networking applications, like hosting an Intranet, use as a general file server, offering shared Internet connections, and use as a virtual server, the Gigabyte R182-NA1 server supports dual 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. 10x storage bays lining the front of the chassis benefit from a hybrid backplane capable of supporting SAS, SATA or NVMe storage options. At only 1U this platform provides high-performance features for standard business applications.
Platinum, Gold or Silver 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors (Intel Xeon SP) can be installed on this system for vastly improved performance and throughput compared to the previous generation. Platinum processors can support the most cores at up to 40 physical cores and 80 virtual threads using Intel’s hyper-threading technology. 3rd Gen Gold Intel Xeon Scalable processors offers up to 32 cores, while Silver CPUs have up to 20 cores. All support PCIe 4.0, for twice the throughput compared to PCIe 3.0, and an 8x memory channel architecture. The system is powered by dual redundant 1300W 80 PLUS Platinum power supplies.
With 8x memory channels and 16x memory module slots per CPU, there are 32x memory module slots total. Load reduced (LRDIMM) and registered (LRDIMM) memory modules can be installed, providing up to 4TB of memory at capacity. 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules offer higher capacities thanks a 3-dimensional stacking of the die instead of just placing dies adjacent to each other. As a result, 3DS memory modules will provide up to 8TB of memory using 256GB memory modules in all slots. Memory speeds of 3200, 2933, and 2666 MHz are supported depending on CPU, memory modules, and memory configuration.
The 10x storage bays lining the front of the system benefit not only from the improved throughput from PCIe 4.0 for NVMe devices but also a hybrid backplane that can support SATA, SAS or Gen4 NVMe storage options. SAS drive formats will still require a SAS controller card offering data transfer speeds of up to 12Gb/s compared to only 6Gb/s using SATA drive formats. NVMe drives on the other hand offer better data transfer rates and latency reductions for better performance.
Two risers at the back of the chassis each support 1x PCIe 4.0 x16 slot that can be outfitted with high-performance I/O, additional superfast PCIe drives and or a SAS controller. There are two OCP mezzanine slots at the back of the chassis. One supports and OCP 3.0 mezzanine card slot with PCIe 4.0 x16 bandwidth from CPU_0. The other is supported by CPU_1 and provides and OCP 2.0 mezzanine card slot with PCIe 3.0 x8 throughput. Both have a network communications services interface (NCSI).
Adjacent to the dual integrated Gb LAN ports on the back of the Gigabyte R182-NA1 server, there is an mLAN port providing a dedicated access port for managing the system. Gigabyte also offers two software suites free-of-charge to manage the system. Gigabyte Management Console is for a single server or small cluster, and Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) is used to manage multiple servers or large clusters of servers. Both can use a standard browser with user-friendly graphical interface to provide system status, inventory, and many other system tools. There’s even a mobile app for both Android and iOS operating systems.
Outfitted with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors and up to 8TB of memory, the Gigabyte R182-NA1 server can easily support a number of critical networking applications to support your business. At only 1U it offers ample upfront storage with 10x hybrid drive bays and can easily interface with other third-party hardware thanks to IPMI 2.0 and Redfish compatibility.
