The Gigabyte R182-Z92 server is part of Gigabyte’s rack server lineup and supports AMD EPYC 7003 or 7002 series processors. It has 10x drive bays up front, all capable of supporting NVMe hot-swappable SSDs. It also offers support for an M.2 drive and up to 8TB of memory operating at speeds of up to 3200MT/s.
Designed for standard networking applications, the Gigabyte R182-Z92 server can be used for file storage, hosting an Intranet, file access via VPN, a shared Internet connection, and as a virtual server. It offers powerful performance with dual AMD EPYC series processors with up to 64 cores each and up to 8TB of memory at capacity.
This platform has a software revision enabling the Gigabyte R182-Z92 server to support both AMD EPYC series 7002 and 7003 series processors. Both offer up to 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads depending on which SKU is installed. With both sockets outfitted with 64 core processors, it can field up to 128 physical cores and 256 virtual threads. There is a thermal design point (TDP) limit of 225W and a configurable TDP of 240W if M.2 is not installed. AMD’s EPYC processors also support PCIe 4.0 for improved throughput on I/O and storage, plus 8x memory channels for high-density memory applications.
There are 32x memory module slots on the system board evenly distributed between the dual processors. The system will support registered (RDIMM) and load reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules for up to 4TB of memory. 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules will provide up to 8TB of memory using 256GB memory modules in all slots.
10x storage bays lining the front of the chassis support 2.5-inch hot-swappable NVMe SSDs. In addition, there is a single M.2 slot on the system board compatible with PCIe 3.0 for ultra-fast storage or to support the OS.
At only 1U, there are limited expansion slots available, but there are two risers, each with a PCIe Gen4 x16 slot. Two OCP mezzanine card slots at the back of the chassis provide additional I/O ports and connection speeds. One of the mezzanine slots supports an OCP 3.0 card with a PCIe 3.0 slot and x16 bandwidth, the other supports an OCP 2.0 card with a PCIe3.0 slot and x8 bandwidth. Two integrated LAN ports on the back of the system provide 1Gb/s throughput, and are located adjacent to a dedicated management port.
The dedicated management port on the back of the Gigabyte R182-Z92 server provides access to the AST Aspeed 2500 remote baseboard management controller (BMC). The management module is compatible with IPMI 2.0 and Redfish. Gigabyte also provides two free-of-charge software management suites to manage the system. Gigabyte Management Console is suitable for managing a single server or small cluster of servers. Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) is appropriate for managing large clusters of servers and offers a number of features, including out-of-band management, inventory, plus power and fan profile settings, and can be configured to send alerts.
At only 1U, the Gigabyte R182-Z92 server offers businesses a mission critical platform for standard networking business applications. It can be used for file storage, a shared Internet connection, a virtual server, or for file access via VPN. This is a highly flexible platform that can easily integrate with your existing network and offers a number of cost-saving features ensuring a rapid ROI.
