Key workloads for the Gigabyte R183-SF2 Server include AI, AI Inference and Training plus visual computing, High-performance computing (HPC) and a number of other mission critical workloads. In addition to the 4th and 5th gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the system is also compatible with Intel Xeon CPU Max CPUs, which support high-bandwidth memory. There are 32x memory module slots divided between the two CPUs. Each CPU supports 8-channel memory architecture, and with 16x memory modules each, 2 DIMMs per Channel can be installed.

The R183-SF2 specifications include 4x full-height, full-length PCIe Gen5.0 x16 slots for GPU support. And 2x more rear-accessible PCIe 5.0 x16 slots provide expansion opportunities. There is also an internal PCIe 4.0 x8 slot, and OCP 3.0 PCIe 5.0 x16 mezzanine card slot. For SAS drive support you will need a storage controller. For RAID of SATA or NVMe storage devices, an optional Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) key can be installed. This system mounts vertically in the immersion cooling container and has the 2700W Redundant PSUs mounted in front along with the PCIe slots and I/O panel.

For managing the system, there is a dedicated LAN port to access the integrated ASPEED AST2600 Baseboard Management Controller (BMC). The Gigabyte Management Console is pre-installed by Gigabyte and offers monitoring and management of a single server of small cluster of servers. For more features, The Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) software suite can manage several large clusters of servers and offers monitoring, management, inventory, alerting and many other tools.
