Powered by a single AMD EPYC 8004 series processor, code name Siena, the Gigabyte R243-E33 server is ideal for visual computing, networking, and artificial intelligence workloads. AMD’s Siena processors feature a 5nm “Zen 4c” architecture, 64 cores and 128 threads, plus a cTDP of up to 225W. There are 12x memory module slots surrounding the CPU with a 6-channel memory architecture. At full capacity it provides up to 1TB of DDR5 RDIMM memory running at speeds of up to 4800MT/s. The front panel holds 12x 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA/SAS4 hot-swap drive bays, but a SAS card is required to support SAS drives.
AMD’s Siena CPUs are designed specifically for single-socket systems and deliver energy efficiency for and space-constrained environments. In addition to the drive bays on the front of the Gigabyte R243-E33, there is a single M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 slot on the motherboard to boot the OS supporting 2280 and 22110 cards. There are 3x FHFL PCIe Gen5 x16 slots for 3x dual-slot GPU cards. NVIDIA A40 and NVIDIA H100 GPUs are supported. 2x OCP 3.0 Gen5 x16 slots are situated on the rear of the platform for optional NIC support. Next to these slots, administrators will find dual 2700W 80 PLUS Titanium or 2400W 80 PLUS Platinum power supply units offering 1+1 redundancy.
The Gigabyte Management Console and Gigabyte Server Management can be used to manage the system. Both offer an intuitive web-based user interface based on the AMI MegaRAC SP-X, remotely accessed through the integrated Aspeed AST2600 baseboard management controller. Gigabyte’s Management Console is a one-to-one solution, whereas the Gigabyte Server Management suite is a one-to-many solution which leverages the Management Console to provide overall management of the network.
