Outfitted with one or two 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Gigabyte R261-3C0 server provides optimal performance for a number of business-critical networking applications. With dual processors it can support up to 2TB of memory. With 12x 3.5-inch hot-swappable SATA3 storage bays and support for 2x NVMe M.2 drives it offers ample storage in a 2U chassis.
As a networking platform, the 2U Gigabyte R261-3C0 server can be used as a general file server, shared VPN connection, to host an Intranet, a virtualized server and a host of other applications. The system supports either dual 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, but only with both processors installed will all memory channels and PCIe slots be available. 12x SATAIII hot-swappable storage bays up front provide ample storage for use as a general file server. The system is powered by a single 800W 80PLUS Platinum PSU that can be upgraded to support dual redundant PSUs.
1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors are supported on this system. Installed CPUs are limited to a thermal design power (TDP) of 125W, which includes support for CPUs with 22 physical cores and 30.25MB of L3 cache.
With 6x memory channels per socket, the R261-3C0 will support up to 2TB of memory using 128GB Load-Reduced DIMMS (LRDIMM) in all 16x memory module slots. Only DDR4 LRDIMM or Registered DIMMs (RDIMM)are supported. Depending on your choice of CPUs and memory modules, memory will run at speeds of 2133MHz, 2400MHz, 2666MHz, or 2933MHz. The fastest memory speed of 2933MHz is only supported using 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors.
12x 3.5-inch hot-swappable storage bays on the front of the chassis can be outfitted with SATA or SAS hot-swappable HDDs or SSDs, either 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch drive types. SAS drive types will require a discrete HD/RAID controller. 2x PCIe Gen3 x4 slots on the system board are for 2260/2280 M.2 drive support and can be used to boot the system in a RAID for redundancy. 2x SATA DOM (Disk on Module) drives are supported that can also be used to boot the system in a redundant RAID configuration.
With 8x PCIe Gen3 slots on the system board, there are expansion options to tailor the system to your specific needs. Required for support of SAS drives is a HD/RAID controller. There are also options for network controllers, including a Mellanox card delivering dual ports at 200Gb/s per port. The system also features dual GbE LAN ports via the Intel I210-AT controller in back with a dedicated Gb management port.
The dedicated Gb MLAN port on the back of the system provides access to the ASPEED AST2500 baseboard management controller for remote and at-chassis management of the system. In addition to intelligent power management features, Gigabyte also provides two software suites to manage either a single system or a large group of servers. The Gigabyte Management Console comes pre-loaded on the system and allows administrators to manage a single server or small server cluster. The Gigabyte Server Management or GSM provides more robust features and is available for download free of charge. GSM is designed to manage many servers or large server clusters.
Offering dual sockets with support for up to 2TB of memory, the Gigabyte R261-3C0 server is designed to support a number of business-critical networking functions. At only 2U it supports 12x 3.5-inch SATA3 hot-swappable drive bays and features support for dual M.2 NVMe drives and dual SATA DOM either of which can be used to boot the system in a redundant RAID. Generous PCIe 3.0 slots on the back of the server provide options to tailor the unit to support your unique workload demands.
