The Gigabyte R282-Z93 server is a dual-socket, double-slot, triple GPU chassis supporting 3rd generation AMD EPYC processors. Each CPU can support up to 64 cores, supporting 8-channel memory for the 32x memory module slots on the motherboard. This 2U platform holds 12x 3.5” or 2.5” hot-swap SATA or SAS HDD or SSD bays on the front of the server, plus an onboard M.2 slot. It’s ideal for big data analytics, high-performance computing, and cloud computing.
As an NVIDIA-Certified system, the Gigabyte R282-Z93 server can take on complex workloads in any industry. The AMD EPYC 7003 series processors offer advanced security and support to leverage large memory and storage capacity plus improved overall performance. Although the server features third-generation CPUs, it also supports 2nd generation AMD EPYC processors. With GPU augmentation this system is also suitable for AI, AI Training and AI inference applications.
The dual 7003 series AMD EPYC processors have a variety of performance features and are built on a 7nm process architecture. This system supports a configurable TDP of up to 240W, which includes processors with up to 64 cores and 128 threads each. AMD’s Zen 3 architecture delivers 8-channel memory to support up to 32x memory module slots. Although the 3rd gen CPUs support more features, the server is also compatible with 2nd gen AMD EPYC CPUs.
As stated in the section above, each AMD processor has 8x memory channels that support RDIMMs, LRDIMMs, 3DS RDIMMs, and 3DS LRIMMs at speeds up to 3200MHz. Each processor socket is in charge of 16x memory module slots for a total of 32x DIMMs between both CPUs and a maximum memory capacity of up to 8TB when all slots are populated with 256GB memory modules.
Aside from the 12x 3.5” hot-swappable drive bays on the front panel, the R282-Z93 server also features an M.2 PCIe Gen4 x4 slot on the MZ92-FS0 motherboard. While the front drive bays support SAS or SATA HDD or SSD hot-swappable drives, the M.2 card supports 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110 size PCIe Gen 4.0 compatible NVMe drives. A SAS card is required for SAS device support. *CPU TDP is limited to 225W if using M.2 device.
There are 5x PCIe Gen4 x16 expansion slots on this machine via three Gigabyte riser cards accessed through the rear of the chassis. These full-height, full-length slots can accommodate three 8-pin GPUs from manufacturers like NVIDIA, AMD, Xilinx, and Qualcomm. Also on the rear, there are dual integrated 1Gb/s Ethernet LAN ports for network communications. In addition to these expansion slots, the server also features an OCP 3.0 Gen4 x16 mezzanine slot, plus an OCP 2.0 Gen3 x8 mezzanine slot.
The Aspeed AST2500 management controller provides for remote management of the R282-Z93 platform. In addition to this controller, the pre-installed Gigabyte Management Console utility can perform real-time health monitoring and management on a single server, or a small cluster, through a browser-based user interface. The Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) software has a suite of programs to manage clusters of servers and can also remotely manage the system over the internet through a standard browser. The following utilities are available GSM Plugin, GSM Agent, GSM CLI, and GSM Mobile.
Packed with 32x DIMMs and 12x 3.5-inch drive bays, the Gigabyte R282-Z93 features the latest technology under the hood. The 2U, dual-socket server can be outfitted with up to 8TB of memory, leveraged by the dual AMD EPYC 7003 processors’ 8-channel memory. In addition, administrators can configure the system to send alerts from the server using the Gigabyte Management Console and Gigabyte Server Management. This is a high-performance computing platform offering GPU acceleration and is adaptable to supporting a number of diverse workloads.
