High-performance processing for networking applications is provided by the 2U Gigabyte R283-Z94 server. With dual AMD EPYC 9004 or 9005 series processors, it can provide up to 6TB of DDR5 memory The front of the server has 12x 3.5” Gen5 NVMe/SATA/SAS4 hot-swappable drive bays, augmented by 4x 2.5” SATA/SAS4 hot-swappable drive bays on the back of the platform.
Supported CPUs feature a maximum of 192 cores, 384 threads, and a maximum configurable Thermal Design Power (cTDP) rating of 300W at ambient 35°C. The EPYC 9654 is supported under limited thermal conditions, while sustaining a cTDP of up to 400W. With a maximum memory speed of 4800MHz, each CPU supports 12x DDR5 memory module slots, for a total of 24x DIMMs. With 256GB 3DS RDIMM modules in each slot it can provide up to 6TB of memory. Using standard 96GB RDIMMs, only 2TB of memory is accessible.
In addition to supporting 2x PCIe Gen5 x16 FHHL slots that are accessible through the chassis' rear, the Gigabyte R283-Z94 server offers 2x OCP 3.0 slots with PCIe Gen5 x16 bandwidth. The motherboard supports 3x M.2 PCIe Gen3 slots for 2280 or 22110 form factor cards in addition to the front and rear storage bays. Gigabyte uses a dual 1600W (240V) 80 PLUS Platinum redundant PSU to power the system. Through the use of a specialized management processor built into the system motherboard, Gigabyte allows administrators to manage the machine free-of-charge using the Gigabyte Server Console for a single server or the Gigabyte Server Manager for multiple servers.
There are 4x model revisions with different types of drive bays, expansion slots, and power supplies.
Gigabyte R283-Z94 (AAD1)*Support of SAS drives requires a SAS add-on card.
