Using a single DIMM per channel with a 9005-series CPU, the system can support memory speeds of up to 5200MT/s or up to 4800MT/s using 9004-series AMD EPYC processors. Storage in front includes 8x 2.5-inch NVMe/SAS-4/SATA hot-swap storage bays. The system can also be configured exclusively with all NVMe storage devices on the front of the chassis. 4x more SAS-4/SATA bays are located on the back of the chassis. With a PCIe 5.0 backplane board both front and back SATA drives can realize a 6Gb/ s data transfer rate, with SAS-4 drives connected at up to 24Gb/s. In addition, 3x PCIe slots on the system board can be used to host up to 3x M.2 drives using two gen 3.0 x4 slots in conjunction with a PCIe 3.0 x2 slot. A storage card is required to support SATA and SAS drive options for both the front and back storage bays. Powering the system are dual redundant (1+1) 2700W 80 PLUS Titanium level PSUs. However, full redundancy is dependent on the configuration of the server.

For network communications, the R283-ZK0 Rack Server offers dual 1Gb/s LAN ports, plus a dedicated management LAN port for remote management of the system. Administrators can also use 2x OCP network Interface Controllers (NICs) on the back of the system offering a PCIe s.0 x16 interface. Gigabyte offers a few management utilities to access the AST2600 Baseboard Management Console (BMC) using a standard browser. Utilities include the Gigabyte Management Console, which comes pre-installed and can help staff perform real-time health monitoring, along with automatic event monitoring, and integrate Broadcomm MegaRAID adapters into the Gigabyte management console. For more robust features, Gigabyte offers the Gigabyte Server Management or GSM. GSM allows for managing clusters of servers simultaneously over the Internet.
