Outfitted with a single AMD EPYC processor, the Gigabyte W291-Z00 Tower Server can support up to 2TB of memory with later generation processors. The system is compatible with the 7001, 7002, and 7003 series EPYC processors with a thermal design power rating of up to 280W, depending on configuration. It offers 4x 3.5" SAS/SATA storage bays up front and support for up to 4x double-wide GPUs. This system can also be rack mounted with an optional rail kit.
The Gigabyte W291-Z00 Tower Server supports 3x generations of AMD EPYC processors. 1st generation processors provide up to 32 cores, while 2nd and 3rd generation CPUS can provide up to 64 cores.
8x DDR4 DIMM slots on the system board are compatible with Registered DIMMs (RDIMM), Load-Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM), or 3DS RDIMMs and LRDIMMs using 7002 or 7003 series processors. Featuring a 14nm die, 1st generation AMD EPYC 7001 series processors will provide up to 1TB of memory and up to 32x physical cores and 64x virtual threads. 7002 and 7003 series processors double memory support with up to 2TB and support a core count of 8x to 64x physical cores. All CPU generations feature 8-memory channel architecture for exceptional memory bandwidth.
Storage on this system is comprise of 4x SATAIII hot-swap bays that can be outfitted with HDDs or SSDs. There is also a single PCIe 3.0 x4 slot on the system board for an M.2 drive that can be used to support the OS. Additional NVMe SSDs can be installed in the PCIe slots.
Not including the 1x M.2 slot with PCIe Gen3 x4 interface on the system board, there are a total of 5x PCIe 3.0 slots on the W291-Z00 tower. 4x of those slots are x16 length with a x16 PCIe bandwidth that can be used to support double-wide PCIe-based GPUs. A single x8 slot also has a x8 bus.
Designed for use as a stand-alone system in a small office, the Gigabyte W291-Z00 Tower Server can also be rack-mounted in a standard enclosure with an optional rail kit. This is a flexible platform with a single processor ideal for use as a shared resource for multiple users for graphics intensive applications or as a general networking platform for a shared file server, shared VPN connection or high-performance applications with support from 4x GPUs.
