Designed to integrate hybrid environments with enterprise business applications, the Infortrend EonStor GS 1016 Gen 2 Storage appliance is housed in a 3U chassis. There are two configuration options available for this system, both of which have 16x drive bays. The first option, the EonStor GS 1016S2C, houses a single controller which can be upgraded to dual redundant controllers. The second option is called the EonStor GS 1016R2C and it has dual controllers in a redundant configuration. Each controller supports a single Intel Atom 4-core processor. On the front of the server, there are 16x 3.5-inch SAS/SATA drive bays, which will also accept 2.5-inch drives.
With two different configurations for the Infortrend GS 1016 Gen2 Storage system, either the EonStor GS 1016S2C with a single controller or the EonStor GS 1016R2C with dual controllers, businesses have options. The single Intel Atom with 4x physical cores and 4x virtual threads supports a minimum of 8GB of cache memory and a maximum of 16GB. The dual controller option has a minimum of 16GB of cache memory and a maximum of 32GB. A maximum thermal design point of 38W is supported by either the dual or single controller option. 16x 3.5-inch drive bays are compatible with 2.5-inch SAS or SATA SSDs or HDDS. Cache backup support is provided by a super capacitor with flash module. U.2 NVMe SSDs can also be installed but additional parts may be required.
The rear of the server houses a single Ethernet management port along with a SAS expansion port. 4x host ports are also available which have the option to be configured with 4x 16BG/s or 1GbE ports or 2x 32GB/s, 10GbE, or 12Gb/s SAS ports. A maximum of 448 drives are supported by this system via expansion enclosures. Via scale-out using other Infortrend Series appliances, per cluster, the maximum number of drives supported can increase to 3136 drives, maximum. A full range of RAID options are supported. This system is powered by dual 460W 80 Plus bronze rated power supplies which are configured with redundancy in mind.
