Infortrend's EonStor GS 2024 Gen1 storage, which is part of the GS 2000 series, offers a cost-effective solution for NAS and SAN integration into a single HDD-based cohesive storage system. It offers 24x 3.5-inch drive bays that can accommodate SAS or SATA HDD or SSD in a 4U chassis. There are 4x configurations for this model, leveraging basic and high-performance options with single or dual controllers. The basic chassis features a single Intel Pentium 2-core processor, as opposed to the 4-core Intel Pentium supported on the high-performance chassis.
Depending on the configuration, the system provides a maximum throughput of 6 Gbps for SATA or 12 Gbps for SAS. This appliance supports block level storage technologies including, SAS, iSCSI, and FC. A single controller may handle 8GB to 64GB of DDR4 cache memory, while two redundant controllers can support 16GB to 128GB of cache memory. The 4U EonStor GS 2016 storage is intended for use in common business applications but also delivers enterprise-grade features like a flash module-equipped super capacitor for cache backup in the event of a power outage. Outfitted with controllers for standard applications or performance, the CPUs, memory capacities, and network interface cards will vary.
Powered by dual redundant 460W 80 PLUS Bronze power supplies, the EonStor GS 2024 aims to reduce hardware footprint by supporting up to 896 drives when connected to JBOD expansion enclosures. When additional Infortrend series appliances are utilized, per cluster for scale-out, the maximum number of drives that can be accessed is up to 3584 drives. Optional host board cards provide additional network connection options depending on your business needs. Among the supported operating systems are Windows Server, Citrix XenServer, OpenStack Cinder, and macOS X. Infortrend’s EonOne software management suite allows for autonomous management of the storage appliances from a single web-based user interface. It can be used for status, to allocate resources and offers and intuitive user interface with automation features to help reduce Administrator oversight and ensure a balanced allocation of resources.
