Featuring a 1U chassis, the Intel Server System M50CYP1UR212 delivers dual socket performance with 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Depending on the installed processor, it can support up to 12TB of memory and has 12x 2.5-inch hybrid storage bays on the front of the chassis.
Designed as a primary workhorse server to suit a number of drivers workloads, the Intel Server System M50CYP1UR212 can be applied for storage, database, ecommerce, analytics and collaboration workloads. Outfitted with dual intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 3rd generation, it can support up to 12TB of memory and is compatible with Intel Optane Series 200 Persistent memory modules. The 1U M50CYP1U family offers two different storage configurations using 2.5-inch SFF drives. Choose from either a 4-bay system, model number M50CYP1U204, or a 12-bay chassis, model number M50CYP1U212. Both support SAS, SATA or NVMe U.2 drive formats.
Using the C621A chipset, this platform can support 1x or 2x 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with a thermal design power of up to 270W. SKUs ending in H, L, or Q are not supported but all others are. Silver processors will provide up to 2x Ultra-Path Interconnects (UPI), while Gold and Platinum families will provide up to 3x UPI links for superior inter CPU communications. 3rd Gen processors support up to 64 PCIe 4.0 lanes for improved bandwidth for I/O and NVMe storage devices. 8x memory channels provide a much larger memory footprint when compared to previous generations that only provided 6x memory channels. The system is powered by dual redundant 1300W PSUs.
With 8x memory channels and 32x memory module slots on the system board, there are 16x memory module slots per CPU, with the potential for 2x memory modules per memory channel. Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) and Registered (RDIMM) memory modules, plus 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM options which provide greater DRAM density on the module. Intel Optane Series 200 Persistent Memory modules (PMem) are also supported and can be used in either Memory mode for the most memory or in Direct App mode, which uses the memory like an SSD storage device and provides persistence for data capture. At full capacity, the system is capable of supporting up to 12TB of memory using a combination of PMem 200 series modules and standard DDR4 DRAM modules.
The Intel Server System M50CYP1UR212 has 12x 2.5-inch storage bays. It supports SAS, SATA or NVMe U.2 drive formats. The system is compatible with SAS or SATA only, NVMe only or a combination of SAS and NVMe drive formats. 8x PCIe connectors on the system board support PCie slim SAS cards while an NVMe riser card in riser 3 offers 2x more SlimSAS connectors each supporting 2x NVMe drives on the front of the system. Intel’s Volume Management Device integrated in the CPU works in conjunction with a Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) key to provide software RAID for NVMe SSD storage devices. Standard, Premium, and Intel SSD only VROC keys are supported. Up to 2x M.2 PCIe or SATA SSDs are supported using two x4 PCIe slots on the system board and can be used to boot the system in a redundant RAID.
There are 3x riser cards supported on this system each of which can be outfitted with additional expansion card options depending on your workload needs. In addition to a dedicated mLAN port, two serial ports are provided but only one of them has an external port on the back of the chassis, the other must be enabled via additional hardware. An OCP 3.0 mezzanine card slot on the back of the system provides network communication port and link options without using the limited PCIe slots. A PCIe interposer riser slot is supported in two of the risers. PCIe slot bifurcation is supported.
A dedicated RJ45 mLAN port on the back of the system provides access to the baseboard management controller BMC for remote and at chassis management of the system. It is compliant with both integrated platform management interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0) and Redfish protocols. Also providing management tools are Intel’s Advanced management Technology and Virtualization technology for Directed I/O (VT-d)
Part of Intel’s single node server lineup, the Intel Server System M50CYP1UR212 is a 1U workhorse platform that can be configured to support a number of standard business and high-performance computing applications. Outfitted with dual 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, plus up to 12x Hybrid drive bays and support for up to 12TB of memory, this system can easily support your growing business.
