Formerly code named “Coyote Pass” The Intel Server System M50CYP2UR208 is a single node server and feature 2.5-inch storage bays in front with options for up to 24x drives. It features 1x or 2x 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 40 cores each and offer support for GPU accelerators. It can support up to 12TB of memory with intel Optane PMem modules.
The Intel Server System M50CYP2UR208 is powered by either 130W, 1600W, or 2100W redundant Titanium or Platinum Level PSUs. It is designed for to be a workhorse platform supporting a number of business-critical workloads including storage, database, use as a web server, for ecommerce, and data analytics. Outfitted with dual 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, it features a large memory footprint with flexible storage options to support your growing business.
This system is powered by 1x or 2x 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors offering a 1.46x performance increase over 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. This latest generation supports up to 40 physical cores and 80 virtual threads with up to 3x intel Ultra Path Interconnects (Intel UPI) to accelerate I/O traffic between CPUs. 3rd Gen processors also support more and faster memory at up to 3200MHz, plus PCIe 4.0, and now with 8x memory channels per CPU.
Each processor is in charge of 16x memory module slots for a total of 32x active memory slots on the system board with 2 CPUs installed. With each CPU providing 8x memory channels, 2x DIMM modules can be installed per memory channel. 3DS Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) plus standard RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules are supported. Only Intel Optane persistent memory 200 series modules are supported, and only of the same capacity. Intel Optane PMem 200 series processors must be paired with either RDIMM or LRDIMM memory modules, either standard or 3DS versions. Depending on the installed processor, memory modules, and configuration memory speeds of 2400MHz, 2666MHz, 2933MHz, and 3200MHz are supported. Only Gold 6300 and Platinum 8300 series processors support the two top memory speeds. At full capacity outfitted with Intel Optane PMem modules it can support up to 12TB of memory. Using just 3DS RDIMM or LRDIMM modules it will support up to 8TB.
The 2.5-inch drive configurations include 8x, 12x, 16x, and 24x 2.5-inch SFF drive bays. Another version of this system, the Intel M50CYP2UR312 is a 3.5-inch drive bay chassis and has 12x front storage bays. There is also room for 2x M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD drives on the system board with dedicated NVMe x4 slots. The M.2 drives can be configured in a RAID 1 configuration using a premium or standard virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) key. Two additional drives can be installed internally above one of the PSUs but these are not hat-swappable. There is a slot on the system board for support of a virtual RAID on CPU key for Intel SSD drives only. 24-bay systems use a midplane card to connect the drive cables. Either the 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch chassis support SAS, SATA, and NVMe storage options depending on chassis storage options and backplane.
Up to 8x PCIe Add in card slots are available depending on the choice of risers for risers 1, 2, and 3. An OCP mezzanine card slot is also available offering a number of port and link options. When GPUs are installed in some of the PCIe slots, a special air baffle and cooling bracket is installed to ensure proper air flow.
An integrated baseboard management controller (BMC) is installed and is compliant with the intelligent platform management interface (UPMI) 2.0 and Redfish standard. The back of the platform features a dedicated RJ45 1Gb Ethernet management port. Intel Data Center Manager (Intel DCM), Intel Server Debug and Provisioning, and Intel Server Management software can be used too.
