Offering 12x 3.5-inch SAS/SATA storage bays on the front of the chassis, the 2U Intel Server System M50CYP2UR312 is one of Intel’s workhorse platforms with the flexibility to handle a number of business workloads. It supports dual 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with 8x to 40 cores for up to 12TB of memory.
The Intel Server System M50CYP2UR312 is designed to support common business applications like general storage, database, use as a web server, for ecommerce, analytics, and more. Outfitted with 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, this system supports more cores than previous generations plus support for PCIe 4.0 and more PCIe lanes at 64 per CPU for 128 total lanes. This system is also incompatible with previous CPU generations as the 3rd generation processor requires a larger socket. At full memory capacity it can support up to 12TB of memory using a combination of PMem series 200 modules and DDR4 DIMMs.
3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors provide the compute for this system which can be outfitted with 1x or 2x CPUs. CPUs from the Platinum, Gold 6300 or 5300 series, and Silver-series are supported. Only Platinum processors will provide up to 40 physical cores, with Gold providing up to 32 cores, and Silver only 22 cores maximum. Each CPU features 8x memory channels that can be outfitted with 1x or 2x DIMM modules per channel.
With 32x DDR4 DIMM slots on the system board, each CPU is in charge of 16x slots. With each CPU delivering 8x memory channels, 2x memory modules can be installed per channel. Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) and 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules are supported. The 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors also support Intel Persistent Memory series 200 modules for increased resiliency and can provide up to 12TB of memory when combined with standard DDR4 memory modules. Intel Optane PMem series 200 modules can be used in App Direct mode almost like a storage device or in Memory Mode providing the greatest memory capacity. Memory speeds of up to 3200MT/s are supported using Platinum or Gold 6300 series processors. Gold 5300 series processors will provide speeds of 2933MHz, which Silver will support up to 2666MHz.
12x 3.5-inch SAS, SATA storage bays line the front of the Intel Server System M50CYP2UR312. It can also be configured to support 8x SAS, SATA drives along with 4x NVMe drives. The M50CYP2UR208 supports up to 24x 2.5-inch drive bays while this platform is only compatible with the 3.5-inch LFF drive format. 2x NVMe PCIe x4 slots on the system board can also be used to support an OS in mirror mode using a virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) key when outfitted with an NVMe or SATA M.2 storage drive. SAS drives will require an HBA/RAID controller, which will provide supports for both SATA and SAS drive formats.
Up to 8x PCIe 4.0 slots are available on 3x separate risers for support of up to 8x concurrent add-on-cards. The system will also support up to 8x NVMe drives using PCIe NVMe riser cards. A PCIe 4.0 x16 OCP 3.0 mezzanine card slot can be outfitted with and OCP 3.0 mezzanine card to provide additional options for network connectivity with different link speeds and connectors available. PCIe slot bifurcation is supported. General purpose graphics processing units (GPGPUs) can also be installed on this system however, a specific air ducting baffle and standard 1U heat sink is recommended for cooling and is included with an accessory kit. And optional 2-slot PCIe NVMe riser card can be installed in slot 3 and supports dual M.2 drives.
An RJ45 management port on the back of the system provides access to the baseboard management controller (BMC) for remote and at chassis access to the system. The system also supports Intel Server Management software which provides continuous health monitoring and enables firmware updating plus asset inventory and layout management of the system. The system is also integrated platform management interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0) and Redfish compliant. Intel’s Data Center Manager (DCM) Console provides IT agility and control with power and thermal management in dedicated data centers or colocations.
