If you are looking for a powerful yet affordable tower server look no further than Lenovo's ThinkServer TD340 Tower Server. This two socket server supports a number of common business applications as is so quiet you can use it in the front office.
The Lenovo ThinkServer TD340 is a great entry-level two socket tower server. The TD340 runs quietly and is easily tucked away under a desk in the front office. With 192GB of memory and 48TB of storage it can easily scale as your business needs change. TD340 features enterprise-class reliability and is suitable for a number of common business applications like web, database, and CRM.
The Lenovo TD340 tower server is powered by up to two Xeon E5-2400 v2 series processors to tackle challenging workloads. With 12 DIMM slots and support for eight hard drives the TD340 has plenty of processing power for your immediate needs, and room to grow as your needs change and your business grows.
In a two processor configuration with all 12 DIMM slots loaded with 16GB RDIMM modules the system supports up to 192GB of memory. UDIMM modules are also supported but will only support up to 48GBs with 4GB modules installed. For virtualization we recommend using RDIMM modules that offer more bandwidth and support more virtual machines.
There's room up front for eight hot-swap SAS or SATA hard disk or solid state drives. Both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives can be fitted in Lenovo's proprietary drive cages, each of which has a dedicated fan to keep things cool. A maximum of 48TB of storage is available with SATA 3.5-inch hard drives installed. SSD drives can also be installed for a definite increase in performance but offer less storage. An integrated Lenovo RAID 100 or RAID 300 controller offers limited RAID configurations. For more RAID options, we recommend installing Lenovo's ThinkServer RAID700II or the RAID 710 adapter card in one of your PCIe slots for the full range of RAID options.
With six PCIE/PCI slots there's plenty of room for additional Ethernet access, advanced RAID options, Fibre-channel host bus adapters, and graphics cards. An onboard graphics/management processor is standard.
Management of the system is handled by the ThinkServer Management Module or TMM which provides out-of-band management with an integrated web server and OS. The TMM also allows the system to be accessed even when powered OFF. The Intelligent Diagnostics Module provides information on system health with LEDs for power, storage, and network ports, additional LEDs are located on the motherboard to help identify problems with fans, microprocessors or the TMM module.
This is a powerful, scalable and adaptable system suited for a wide range of different uses at an affordable price point. Energy Star certified for low energy usage, this is a great entry-level server that can be rack mounted with an optional rail kit.
