Featuring second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR570 server provides a combination of performance and storage capacity with 10x 2.5” drive bays. The 1U system is ideal for businesses who want some of the features of a mainstream high-performance server, but don’t really need all the features like the SR630 has to offer. Users can take advantage of the large memory capacity of more than 2TB when using Intel Optane Persistent memory modules.
The Lenovo ThinkSystem SR570 server offers a balance of performance, memory, and storage to power for a wide range of workloads. It supports up to two processors, memory speeds of up to 2933MHz, and memory capacities of up to 2.75TB with a combination of TruDDR4 RDIMMs and Intel data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMMs). The system also supports a choice of SFF or LFF NVMe, SAS, and SATA drive bays, plus dual M.2 slots for fast secure boot without sacrificing your up-front storage.
Under the hood, the ThinkSystem SR570 features up to 2x Intel Xeon Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum processors with a TDP of up to 150W. The server supports both 1st Gen and 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, with the latter supporting newer, faster, and overall high-performing technology. With thermal limits enabled, each processor supports up to 24 cores and 48 threads supporting memory speeds of up to 2933MHz and CPU to CPU communications at up to 10.4 GT/s through Intel’s Ultra Path Interconnect (UPI) links. Additionally, by briefly exceeding processor thermal design power, Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology allows CPU cores to perform at maximum rates during peak workloads.
Each processor on the Lenovo SR570 has 6x memory channels which support Lenovo’s TruDDR4 memory modules and Intel Optane Persistent Memory modules (DCPMMs). Up to 1TB of RDIMM memory capacity or a combination of up to 2.75TB of DCPMM and RDIMMs can be loaded into the system with all 16x memory module slots filled. When all slots are populated, the memory can boost performance of data-intensive applications.
Unique AnyBay drive bays just behind the security bezel on the 1U SR570 platform allows a choice of different drive interfaces in the same drive bay such as SAS, SATA, and U.2 NVMe PCIe drive types. The server supports up to 10x 2.5-inch drives for performance-optimized configurations, or up to 4x 3.5-inch drives for capacity-optimized configurations. It can be outfitted with high-end NVMe SSDs or be configured for lower-cost, lower-performance applications using SAS or SATA HDDs. The NVMe bays in this system have a direct connection to the motherboard, eliminating the need for a dedicated bridge card in the PCIe slot. Offering surprising versatility, the system includes an onboard M.2 connector that can be used as a dedicated boot device operating in a RAID 1 configuration by default with two drives installed. This system can also be used without any drives as a compute only appliance relying on the M.2 drives to boot the operating system.
The rear of the chassis holds dual hot-swappable PSUs, two USB 3.0 ports, two RJ-45 GbE ports, a 10/100/1000 Mb Ethernet port for the XClarity Controller, an optional LOM card slot, and up to three PCIe slots. A LAN on Module (LOM) mezzanine card slot provides additional options for network connections without using the limited PCIe slots.
The ThinkSystem SR570 has Lenovo’s XClarity Controller built onto the server, which delivers enhanced service processor control, monitoring, and alerting functionalities, plus out-of-band systems management. By connecting a tablet, Android or iOS mobile device to the front panel, administrators can manage the server through the XCLarity Mobile App. To cut expenses and improve performance time, the software enables easy access to the firmware, health, network, and warnings.
Featuring Lenovo’s AnyBay technology, the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR570 supports SAS, SATA, and NVMe U.2 drive bays. The motherboard can support one or two Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs with support for 1st or 2nd Generation processors. These CPUs allow for up to 2.75TB at capacity with a combination of TruDDR4 RDIMMs and Intel DCPMMs, allowing the system to perform at its maximum capacity.
