The 8U Lenovo ThinkSystem SR950 V3 Server features two interconnected 4U units linked via 8x UPI cables and 2x sideband cables on the front panel. Each 4U unit houses 4x 4th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with a 350W TDP, delivering a total of 8x CPUs across both integrated units. With all 8x CPUs, the system can provide up to 480 physical cores and 960 virtual threads. The system accommodates 128x DDR5 memory module slots, supporting up to 32TB of memory.
Engineered for mission-critical workloads, this server is ideal for SAP HASA, business analytics, ERP, CRM, and virtualization. The Lenovo SR950 V3 Server supports up to 8x Intel Xeon Scalable processors, each offering up to 60 cores and 120 threads. With 8-channel memory architecture, each CPU supports 16x TruDDR5 memory module slots for potentially 2x RDIMMs or 3DS RDIMMs DIMMs per channel. Depending on specific memory modules, CPUs and memory configuration, memory can run at speeds up to 4800MHz. The 4th gen Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs are feature built-in QAT, DLB, IAA and DSA accelerators for dramatically improved performance.
For storage, the 8U system features 16x E3.S EDSFF hot-swap PCIe 5.0 NVMe drive bays or up to 16x 2.5-inch drive bays supporting SAS or SATA SSDs on the front panel. Under the hood, it supports 2x M.2 NVMe drives via an M.2 adapter with an integrated Marvell 88NR2241 NVMe RAID controller. This platform also supports Intel VROC (Virtual RAID on CPU) enabling RAID functionality on NVMe drives without a separate RAID controller.
Up to 14x PCIe slots are offered on the Lenovo SR950 V3 with 6x front FHHL x16 Gen5 slots and 8x rear FHHL x16 Gen5 slots. An OCP 3.0 SFF slot with PCIe 4.0 x16 host interface supports network adapters up to 25 GbE. This platform does not offer GPU support. The system includes up to 12x hot-swap 1800W 80 PLUS Titanium redundant power supplies, 4x or 6x per 4U chassis, depending on the configuration. Cooling is provided by 12x simple-swap 60mm dual rotor fans in each 1U chassis. A front USB 2.0 port is shared with the built-in XClarity Controller (XCC), which monitors system parameters, triggers alerts, and performs recovery actions in case of failures, to minimize downtime.
