Built on a new Samsung 8nm manufacturing process, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 GPU is one of three new graphics cards in the GeForce RTX 30 series. Powered by Ampere technology, the RTX 3090 is the most advanced card NVIDIA has created with more than 10,000 CUDA cores and up to 24GB of GDDR6X memory. This card sets a new high bar with its next-generation technology and features.
Compared to the RTX 20 series, this new trio has more performance than ever. With a triple-slot design, the GeForce RTX 3090 features multiple ray tracing effects along with 28 billion transistors. The card also supports up to 24GB of memory and 8K capabilities to maintain smooth frame rates for the best visual experience.
Ampere architecture promises a significant performance improvement for gamers and creators. With up to 10,496 CUDA cores, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 has 1792 more CUDA cores than the RTX 3080, and 4608 more than the RTX 3070. Users can experience real-time ray tracing and the ultimate performance of AI-powered DLSS 2.0 to boost the maximum frames per second and image resolution smoothing. In addition, the RTX 3090 features 328 tensor cores, 96 ROPs, and 82 RT cores. Not only is this the most powerful NVIDIA graphics card yet, it’s the only one in the new GeForce RTX 30 series to support NVLink. It also requires 350W of power and a PSU with a minimum power rating of 750W.
24GB of GDDR6X memory by Micron enables faster frame rates for the GeForce RTX 3090 GPU. This card supports 14GB more than the RTX 3080, which supports up to 10GB. GDDR6X memory on this card runs at 19.5 Gb/s with a 384-bit memory interface, including 935.8 GB/s of bandwidth. The RTX 3090 and 3080 are the only cards with GDDR6X memory as the RTX 3070 while still very impressive supports GDDR6 memory from the previous generation.
The 3-slot RTX 3090 features the latest design to remove heat from under the hood. Inside the GPU, there’s a vapor chamber with a heat sink that distributes heat. The graphics processing unit also has two fans, one on each side, to get rid of the distributed heat. The front fan pushes hot air out through the small finned vents, while the fan on the back draws air through the card and vents that CUDA core scented air towards the top and rear chassis vents. Part of the new design includes support for a 350W TDP and a 12-pin power connector.
The RTX 3090 with 10,496 CUDA cores has more cores than any other NVIDIA graphics processing unit, enabling new levels of creative expression. Under the hood of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition, the new Samsung 8nm manufacturing process with 28 billion transistors makes it easier to render complex 3D scenes, edit in 8K, or live stream with the best image quality.
