As part of Supermicro’s A+ server lineup, the Supermicro A+ 1123US-TR4 supports dual AMD EPYC processors from the first- and second-generation series. This 1U platform also features 10x front 2.5” hot-swap storage bays, 32x memory module slots, and 4x PCIe expansion slots.
The Supermicro A+ 1123US-TR4 is ideal for virtualization, cloud computing, featuring flexible networking options. The dual AMD EPYC processors from the 7001 and 7002 series support up to 32x memory module slots with up to 8TB of memory, depending on which CPU series is installed. At only 1U in height, this system is an easy fit with your existing network providing dense compute and flexibility to support a number of workloads.
Inside the Supermicro 1123US-TR4 chassis there are two AMD EPYC processors from the 7001 or 7002 series. 7001 series CPUs can be deployed with up to 32 cores and 64 threads, meanwhile 7002 series processors offer up to 64 cores and 128 threads, per CPU. Each CPU also supports 8x memory channels with 2x memory modules each for 16x DIMMs per socket, and a total of 32x active DIMM slots with both processors installed.
The AMD processors on the H11 generation motherboard allow for up to 32x memory module slots and up to 8TB of registered (RDIMM) DDR4 SDRAM, when 7002 processors are installed. 7002 CPUs also offer memory speeds of up to 3200MHz. On the other hand, only 4TB of RDIMM DDR4 SDRAM are available when using 7001 CPUs, which will only support memory speeds of up to 2666MHz. The server supports RDIMM, 3DS RDIMM, load-reduced (LRDIMM/3DS LRDIMM), and non-volatile (NVDIMM) memory modules but only using 1st generation AMD processors. All DIMMs must be the same type, size, and speed. If mixed speeds are installed, all DIMMs will run at the speed of the slowest DIMM.
The 1123US-TR4 platform is outfitted with 10x 2.5-inch storage drives on the front panel. These drives are loaded into tool less drive carriers, which makes removal and installation much easier. The server supports 10x SATA3 drives by default, but can also be configured to support 8x SATA and 2x NVMe drives or 8x SAS drives and 2x SATA drives with a discrete RAID controller Additionally, up to two M.2 solid state drives can also be installed on a riser card with some restrictions. One M.2 socket supports PCIe, while the other supports SATA.
To maximize expansion options, the A+ 1123US-TR4 1U chassis offers multiple PCIe risers. There are two full-height, 9.5” length x16 PCIe 3.0 slots, one low-profile x8 PCIe 3.0 slot, and one internal low-profile PCIe 3.0 x8 slot. The internal low-profile x8 slot is typically utilized for the optional SAS3 controllers, allowing for 8x 2.5-inch SAS capabilities and 2x NVMe or SATA storage drives.
Administrators can use Supermicro’s SuperDoctor 5, which is Supermicro’s proprietary management software program that functions at-chassis or remotely. The program keeps track of things like CPU temperature, system voltages, system power usage, and fan speed, among other things. If the system’s health status changes, the program sends either an email or an alert via Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
The dual AMD EPYC processors offer a lot of performance in the Supermicro A+ 1123US-TR4 server. With up to 64 cores and 128 threads when 7002 CPUs are installed, the system supports 32x DIMMs with up to 8TB of memory and speeds of up to 3200MHz. The flexible storage bays on the front of the server allow businesses to successfully tackle the most compute-intensive workloads.
