Offering 4x independent server nodes in a 2U chassis, the Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2123BT-HNC0R is designed for compute intensive applications including high-performance computing, data center, plus hyperconverged and hyperscale networks. Each of the server nodes supports dual AMD EPYC processors, up to 4TB of memory, and 6x of the 24x front accessible, hybrid storage bays.
With 4x individual server nodes outfitted with dual AMD CPUs, the Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2123BT-HNC0R is ideal for compute intensive tasks in the data center and as part of a hyperconverged or hyperscale network. Each of the server nodes has access to 6x of the 24x upfront SATA3/SAS3/NVMe drive bays, and at capacity will support up to 4TB of memory. Power is provided by dual redundant Titanium level 2200W PSUs.
*This system is only sold as a completely assembled unit with a minimum of 2x CPUs, 8x DIMMs, 1x HDD/NVMe storage device, and 1x SIOM card, per node.
Each of the four server nodes supports two AMD EPYC 7001 or 7002 series processors. 7001 series processors are limited to 32 cores and 2TB of memory, while the 7002 series AMD EPYC processors will deliver up to 64 cores and up to 4TB of memory. The CPUs are limited to a configurable thermal design point (cTDP) of up to 200W. CPUs with a high TDP may only be supported under certain conditions.
Each of the CPUs support 8x memory channels and 8x memory module slots for up to 16x active slots with both processors installed. As previously mentioned, memory capacity is a factor of which processors is installed as the 7001-series processors will support a maximum of 2TB of memory, compared to 4TB of memory using 7002-series EPYC processors. 7002-series processors will also support faster memory speeds at up to 3200MT/s compared to 2666MT/s using 7001-series CPUs. Only registered (RDIMM) DDR4 memory modules are supported.
With 24x hybrid storage bays lining the front of the Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2123BT-HNC0R, each of the 4x server nodes is assigned 6x drive bays. Drive types include SAS3, SATA3 and NVMe storage devices. The drive bays are color coded with yellow drive release tabs indicating support for SAS3, SATA3, or NVMe drive types. The red release tabs indicate support for SAS3 or SATA3 drive types. Basic storage configurations for each of the nodes include 6x 2.5-inch hot-swap or 4x 2.5-inch NVMe drives, plus 2x SAS3 storage devices. This system is designed to host SAS and NVMe drives natively and comes with a preinstalled Broadcom controller operating at 12Gb/s. There is also a single slot on the motherboard for a SATA or NVMe M.2 drive that can be used to boot the system only.
2x low-profile PCIe 3.0 x16 expansion slots at the back of each of the 4x server nodes provide options for more, and faster I/O options. A dedicated slot on the motherboard supports a Supermicro I/O module (SIOM), which offers options for ports and connection speeds.
An integrated platform management interface (IPMI) LAN port on the back of each of the server nodes provide remote access to the system. Additional proprietary programs provided by Supermicro include SuperDoctor 5 (SD5) and Watchdog. SD5 presents a browser-based, graphical user interface for managing the system and can be configured to send alerts.
Outfitted with dual AMD EPYC processors in each of the 4x server nodes, the Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2123BT-HNC0R can bring up to 8x CPUs and up to 16TB of memory in a 2U chassis. This system is designed for high-performance computing applications in the data center and for use as an enterprise server in a hyperscale or hyperconverged network.
