The 2U Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2123BT-HNR has 24x front mounted storage devices divided between 4x dual-socket server nodes. Each of the four nodes support two AMD EPYC 7001/7002 series processors with up to 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads. Each node can also support up to 4TB of DDR4 memory.
Description With the high-density storage and memory the Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2123BT-HNR offers, it’s a shoe in for compute-intensive applications, high-performance computing, the data center, and for hyperscale and hyperconverged networks. Each of the four nodes can be configured to support a completely separate workload or can be tethered together to function as a cluster. This is a highly flexible platform that can be adapted to support a number of different workloads. The system supports redundant 1400W or 2600W Titanium level PSUs.
*This platform is only sold as a completely assembled system with a minimum of 2x CPUs, 8X DIMMs, 1x HDD/NVMe and 1x SIOM card, per node.
Each of the four independent server nodes in the chassis support dual AMD EPYC 7001 or 7002 series processors. 7002 series processors provide up to 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads, which the 7001 series processors will top out at 32 cores. Each processor also supports 8x memory channels. The configured thermal design point (cTDP) for the processors is limited to 200W, but the system may still support processors with a higher TDP under certain conditions.
AMD EPYC 7002 series processors provide twice the memory capacity of the 7001 series processors at 4TB compared to only. 7002 series processors will also support 3200MHz memory modules compared to a top memory speed of 2666MHz using 7001 series processors.
There are 6x 2.5-inch storage bays on the front of the 2U chassis that are assigned to each of the 4x server nodes. NVMe drives (HDD or SSD) are supported natively with a 24-port 4-node NVMe backplane. Other drive configurations are not supported with this chassis. The system also supports a single M.2 drive on the system board to support the OS. There is also a dedicated slot for a SuperDOM storage module.
Expansion slots at the back of the Supermicro 2123BT-HNR support two low profile PCIe 3.0 x16 card slots per node. A single Supermicro I/O Module on the back of the chassis connects to the motherboard using a dedicated connection and provides flexible networking. It can be bundled at time of purchase with a network card. Additional PCIe supported options include an M.2 storage slot and SuperDOM port.
The integrated platform management interface (IPMI) LAN port on the back of the chassis provides a network connection to the baseboard management controller (BMC) management module in each of the 4x server nodes. A standard out-of-band license is included with the purchase and provides remote access to the server nodes. Applications like Watch Dog can help manage the system and can reboot the system if a software application hangs. LED indicators on the front of each server node provide additional at-a-glance status information regarding system health.
Featuring 4x dual socket server nodes in the 2U form factor, the Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2123BT-HNR is a definite asset for compute intensive applications, high-performance computing (HPC), for use in the data center or as part of a hyperconverged or hyperscale environment. The 24x front facing NVMe storage bays are divided equally between the server nodes and provide both speed and resiliency to your network.
