As an A+ server, the 2U Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2123BT-HTR supports AMD EPYC series processors in each of the 4x server nodes. In addition to supporting dual 7001/7002 AMD EPYC series CPUs, each of the 4x server nodes is allocated 6x of the 24x upfront storage devices and up to 4TB of memory.
The Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2123BT-HTR is a very capable high-density system, perfect for compute intensive applications, high-performance computing applications, and for use as an enterprise server in a hyperscale or hyperconverged network. Supported drive formats on this chassis include SATA3 and M.2 SATA storage devices. Expansion slots on the back of each server node provide additional options to support your workload needs. The system is powered by dual redundant 2200W Titanium rated PSUs.
Two AMD EPYC 7001/7002 series processors are supported in each of the 4x independent server nodes. Second generation EPYC processors provide the most cores at 64 compared to 7001 series processors, which will top out at 32 cores. Both offer 8x memory channels and are limited to a configured thermal design power (cTDP) rating of up to 200W. Although, certain configurations will support processors with a higher TDP.
With 8x memory channels to work with, each processor supports 8x memory module sockets for 16x memory slots in each of the 4x nodes. Depending on your choice of processors the memory will run at up to 2666MHz using 7001 series processors or up to 3200MHz using 7002 series AMD EPYC processors. Only registered (RDIMM) memory modules are supported offering up to 4TB of memory using 7002 series processors. Using 7001 series processors, the system will support a maximum of 2TB of memory.
The Supermicro 2123BT-HTR chassis has 24x SATA3 drive bays up front that are divided equally between the 4x server nodes. A PCIe 3.0 x4 slot on the system board supports a single SATA/PCIe M.2 storage drive for support of the OS.
In addition to the left and right x16 PCIe 3.0 slots, each of the server nodes also support a few dedicated slots. One for support of a Supermicro I/O module (SIOM) for flexible network communications, a x24 slot for support of a supermicro storage add on card, and a x8 M.2 slot.
A dedicated port on the back of each server node provides access to the integrated platform management interface 2.0 (IPMI) and the baseboard management controller (BMC). A software out-of-band license key (SFT-OOB-LIC) is included for BIOS remote management of the system. The IPMI features supports at chassis management of the system using a keyboard, video (laptop) and mouse (KVM) plus dedicated LAN access.
Offering high-density in a 2U form factor, the Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2123BT-HTR has 4x independent dual-processor server nodes. Each of the server nodes is allocated 6x of the 24x upfront SATA3 storage drives. An M.2 drive slot on the main system board can be used to support the operating system. This platform is ideal for high-performance applications.
