Offering 4x hot-swap dual socket server nodes in a 2U chassis, the Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2124BT-HNTR is an ideal appliance for compute intensive applications including, high performance computing, data center, plus hyperscale and hyperconverged networks. Each node features dual AMD EPYC 7002/7003 series processors for superior core count and performance.
Supporting up to 4TB of memory in each of the 4x hot-swappable server nodes, the Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2124BT-HNTR offers dense compute in a 2U chassis. This system is a great fit for data centers offering a densely packed 2U platform offering up to 8x processors and 16TB in a 2U chassis. Power, cooling, and storage is handled at the chassis level while the compute and memory are supported by the 4x compute nodes.
Other 2124BT Chassis Configuration
Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2124BT-HTR
Up to 6x SATA3 bays; 16x DIMM; 1x PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2
*These systems only come with a minimal configuration including 2x CPUs, 8x DIMM modules, 1x HDD/SSD and one Supermicro I/O Mezzanine card per server node.
Each node supports dual AMD EPYC 7002/7003 series processors offering up to 64 cores each plus PCIe 4.0. Performance is improved by up to 19% using Gen 3 AMD EPYC processors, which will require a BIOS update 2.0 or higher. The system is powered by dual redundant 2200W titanium level PSUs.
With 8x memory channels per CPU and 16x active slots with both processors installed. Each memory module occupies a single memory channel for optimal performance. Memory modules supported include up to 4TB of load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules operating at speeds of up to 3200MHz.
These server sleds offer hybrid storage with each accessing up to 6x of the front 24x storage bays. 4x NVMe storage bays can also be allocated to support SATA3 along with 2x dedicated SATA3 bays, per node. There is also a dedicated slot on the system board for support of a single SATA or NVMe M.2 drive for support of the OS.
There are 2x PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 slots on the system board to support additional I/O mezzanine cards. There is a single RJ45 port to access the dedicated integrated platform management interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0). Additional LAN ports are available using a Supermicro I/O module (SIOM) in one of the PCIe slots to the rear of the server sled, and there is a dedicated slot for that.
As indicated above, there is a single dedicated RJ45 LAN port for management of the system. This provides access to the baseboard management controller (BMC). This system also supports the Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), an all-in-one system to monitor and manage Supermicro servers with each server loaded with specific software for licensing. For updates, there’s the Supermicro Update Manager (SUM) which has two channels for operating in-band and out-of-band through the BMC. Also available, is the SuperDoctor 5 app for monitoring heath and availability of assets using a standard browser.
The Supermicro BigTwin A+ SuperServer 2124BT-HNTR delivers a high-density multi-server platform with up to 8x CPUs in a 2U chassis. Outfitted with AMD EPYC 7002/7003 processors, this system is very adaptable to your changing business needs with a modular chassis that can support a number of high-performance computing applications. It is an excellent choice for a data center application or for hyperscale and hyperconverged networks.
