Featuring 4x hot plug server nodes, the 2U Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 2029BT-HNTR is designed for hyperscale and hyperconverged networks. Each node supports dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 1st and 2nd generations with up to 28 cores and 56 threads.
With support for up to 6TB of memory the Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 2029BT-HNTR is perfect for compute intensive applications in the data center or enterprise business. This is a high-density platform with 24x drives allocated evenly between the server nodes and up to 8x CPUs and 24TB of memory at capacity, and all in a 2U chassis.
*This system comes completely assembled with a minimum of 2x CPUs, 2xDIMMs, 1x HDD/NVMe, and 1x SIOM card, per server node.
Dual 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors reside in each of the 4x server nodes. There are 6x memory channels per CPU and each CPU is in charge of 12x memory module slots. Configurations that require CPUs with a thermal design point (TDP) greater than 165W may require extended thermal solutions.
Depending on your choice of memory modules and CPUs, memory will run at up to 2933MHz. 3DS registered (RDIMM), 3DS load-reduced (LRDIMM), and data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM), AKA Intel Optane, are supported in varying quantities. Using 3DS memory modules the system will support a maximum capacity of 6TB using all 24 memory module slots and with both processors installed.
Each of the four server nodes is allocated 6x of the 24x drive bays on the front of the chassis, all of which are 2.5-inch drives. Of the 6x drives allocated, 4x can be NVMe/SATA III and the other 2x SATAIII. A single x4 PCIe slot on the system board is dedicated for an NVMe or SATA M.2 drive.
Along with the Supermicro I/O module (SIOM), which connects to a dedicated slot on the system board for flexible networking, there are 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots for support of additional network interface controllers (NICs).
An integrated ASPEED AST2500 module provides at-chassis and remote management of the system through the integrated platform management interface (IPMI) baseboard management controller (BMC). The Supermicro Server Manager (SSM) provides a general system overview and health status in addition to a few other apps like Intel’s Node Manager, and Supermicro’s Power Manager.
Part of Supermicro’s BigTwin line of servers, the Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer SYS-2029BT-HNTR features 4x dual socket hot-swap server nodes. Each node can be outfitted with Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 1st or 2nd generation, plus up to 6TB of memory. This system is designed for use as an enterprise server for use with high-performance computing applications, plus hyperscale and hyperconverged networks.
