As with other Supermicro BigTwin servers, the Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 222BT-HNC9R supports 4x nodes. Each node features dual Intel Xeon 6 6700 series processors with E-cores. These CPUs are equipped with up to 144 cores and 144 threads, a cache of up to 108MB, a maximum TDP of 330W when liquid cooled, or up to 205W when air cooled. Each node supports up to 4TB of RAM. This machine is built for mission critical high-performance computing, virtualized big data analytics, high-density storage RAID array, among other applications.
With 4TB per node, the 2U system has a capacity of up to 16TB. With 8-memory channel architecture and 16x memory module slots shared between the CPUs, memory will run at speeds of up to 6400MT/s. A total of 24x 2.5-inch NVMe/SAS drive bays can be configured on the front panel, with each node connecting to 6x drives. Per node, that includes two hot-swap 2.5" PCIe 5.0 NVMe/SAS drive bays and 4x hot-swap 2.5" PCIe 4.0 NVMe/SAS/SATA drive bays. The Broadcom 3908 controller in IR mode with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 enables SAS 12Gbps setups.
The 2U BigTwin SuperServer 222BT-HNC9R is powered by dual 3600W redundant (1 + 1) Titanium Level (96%) power supplies, which can be found situated between all 4x nodes on the back of the server. Each node has 1x OCP 3.0 compatible PCIe 5.0 x16 AIOM slot and 1x low-profile PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for flexible networking. The server board has dual M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe slots per node that can boot the OS and handle 22110 form factor cards by default. However, a VROC is needed for RAID. In case of hardware malfunction, software such as Supermicro’s Think-Agent Service (TAS), Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), Super Diagnostics Offline (SDO), SuperCloud Composer, and SuperServer Automation Assistant (SAA) can deliver an overview of the assets. The server nodes can be managed and controlled both at-chassis and remotely.
