Outfitted with 2x separate dual-socket nodes, the hybrid 24-bay Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 6029BT-DNC0R is a 2U platform designed for use as an enterprise server, in the data center, or for hyperscale and hyperconverged networks. With dual 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, each node is capable of supporting up to 6TB of ECC DDR4 memory.
Each of the 2x server nodes is allocated 6x of the 12x 3.5-inch drive bays up front. The Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 6029BT-DNC0R is designed for high-performance computing applications with a mix of dual processors, a large memory footprint, and flexible networking options. Flexible hybrid storage options also provide options for speed and resiliency. It also has dual 2200W Titanium level PSUs operating in a 1+1 configuration, again for more resiliency in the event of a power failure.
*This system is only available completely assembled with a minimum of 2x CPUs, 2x DIMM modules, 1HDD/NVMe drive and a Supermicro I/O module (SIOM) card, per server node.
Only 1st and 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor are supported providing up to 28 cores and 56 threads each. Each processor supports 6x memory channels and 48 PCIe 3.0 lanes.
With 6x memory channels, and 12x memory module slots per processor, 2x memory modules per channel are supported. With both CPUs installed, there are 24x active memory module slots and the potential for up to 6TB of memory. Registered (RDIMM), load-reduced (LRDIMM) and data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM) are supported in varying quantities. Only 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors will support data centric persistent memory modules.
12x hybrid storage bays up front are capable of supporting SAS, SATA and NVMe drives. Each of the 2x hot-swap server nodes is allocated 6x drive bays and can be configured to support 6x SAS3 or 2x NVMe with 3x SAS3 drives. A storage expansion card sits in a dedicated slot on the system board next to the CPUs and memory modules that allows for dual M.2 storage devices. SAS drives will require the Broadcom 3008 controller for 12Gb/s access speeds.
Each of the nodes on the Supermicro 6029BT-DNC0R server has a dedicated slot for support of an SIOM card and another for an optional M.2 Storage Expansion card adjacent to the memory modules. 2x more PCIe 3.0 x8 slots and a single PCIe 3.0 x16 slot provide connections for optional network interface cards (NICs) and RAID controllers for support of SAS3 drives.
A dedicated RJ45 management port in back provides access to the integrated platform management interface 2.0 (IPMI) via the baseboard management controller (BMC). The BMC leverages the ASPEED AST2500 module for at-chassis and remote management of the system. Several other applications provide additional management features for power management and system updates.
Offering a high-density 2U platform, the Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 6029BT-DNC0R delivers 2x separate dual-socket server nodes. Each server is allocated half of the 12x drives bays up front and the dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors support up to 6TB of memory at full capacity.
