As one of the BigTwin SuperServers with support for 3rd gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 620BT-DNC8R supports 2x hot-pluggable rear nodes in a 2U form factor. The system is suitable for hyperconverged infrastructure, scale-out object storage, and back-up and recovery.
With 2x nodes, the Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 620BT-DNC8R features dual Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs, 20x memory module slots, and 6x hot-swap 3.5” drive bays to each node. The chassis is compatible with all of the new technology to scale businesses today and into the future.
*Only fully completed systems with a minimum of 2x CPUs, 2x DIMMs, and 1x NIC per node can be sold. It is recommended to install at least 16x DIMMs for optimal performance.
The BigTwin SuperServer 620BT-DNC8R supports 2x hot-pluggable rear-mounted server nodes featuring dual 3rd gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Each processor supports up to 36 cores and 72 threads, plus a thermal design point (TDP) of up to 250W. Two 2600W power supplies are accessible from the back of the chassis, and offer 1+1 redundancy so if one fails it can be swapped out without powering down the system.
*Certain CPUs with high TDP may be supported only under specific conditions.
Each Intel CPU supports 10x memory module slots for a total of 20x active DIMM slots per node, total. Each node features 16x DDR4 RDIMMs with 4x slots reserved for Intel Optane Persistent 200 series (PMem) memory modules. Up to 4TB of memory is supported when using standard DDR4 RDIMMs with speeds up to 2933MHz. On the other hand, when RDIMMs and PMem are installed together, up to 6TB of memory is supported with speeds of up to 3200MHz.
The server supports 12x hot-swap 3.5” storage drives with 6x per node. Hybrid storage on the BigTwin 620BT-DNC8R is compatible with SAS3, SATA3, or NVMe drives, and can also be configured as solid-state or hard disk drives. SAS drives will require a discrete HD/RAID controller, which provides a full range of RAID options. Virtual RAID on CPU (vROC) is also supported with use of a vROC key and provides limited RAID functionality for SSD drive formats.
Each node can accommodate 3x PCIe 4.0 slots, accessed through the rear of the chassis. Two are x8 low profile slots and the other is a x16 low-profile slot. There’s also a single PCIe 3.0 x8 onboard slot for an M.2 NVMe/SATA add on card (AOC) to boot the operating system. The server also supports 2x NVIDIA T4 GPUs per node, for a total of 4x in the entire system.
The Supermicro 620BT-DNC8R can be accessed via an advanced I/O module (AIOM) card, which provides a variety of connection speeds and port types depending on your choice. Through the Supermicro Out-of-Band (OOB) license, administrators can access the server remotely. Other management software programs include SuperCloud Composer, Watchdog, and SuperDoctor 5.
Offering 2-nodes, each with dual 3rd gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, 20x DIMM slots, and 3x PCIe 4.0 slots, the Supermicro BigTwin SuperServer 620BT-DNC8R has the latest technology to drive businesses forward. The chassis also features 12x hot-swappable 3.5” drive bays on the front of the server compatible with SAS, SATA, and NVMe interfaces that are divided equally between the server nodes to drive performance.
