The Supermicro FatTwin SuperServer F620P3-RTBN is a 4U chassis that houses 4x hot-pluggable independent server nodes. It is designed to support a number of key applications including Data Center Enterprise Applications, High Capacity and Ultra Dense Storage, and other compute intensive tasks. Each of the 4x nodes is dual socket and compatible with 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. There are 16x DIMM slots per node along with 8x 3.5-inch hot-swap drive bays.
Designed for High Performance Computing, the Supermicro FatTwin F620P3-RTBN holds 4x independent nodes that are compatible with one or two 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Each CPU socket supports 8x DIMM slots for a total of 16x per node. Nodes also hold 8x 3.5-inch hot-swap drive bays with six on the front of the system and two in the back.
Powering the system are dual 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors offering more cores, faster memory, more PCIe lanes, and PCIe 4.0. Given the thermal load limitation on this system of only 165W, only processors with a maximum of 32 Cores and 64 Threads are supported. Depending on your choice of processor, up to 48MB of cache is also available.
Storage solutions on this system include 8x 3.5-inch drive bays, six of which are found on the front of the system and the remaining two are found on the rear. All drive bays are hot-swappable and support both SATA and SAS drives in addition to NVMe 2.5-inch hybrid solutions. In fact, this system will support all NVMe configurations, with 6x NVMe drives in front and 2x in the back. Additional hardware may be required to support SAS and NVMe drives.
Each node on the Supermicro SuperServer F620P3-RTBN holds 2x CPUs and 16x DIMM slots, which are compatible with both Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) registered (RDIMM) and load reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules plus Persistent Memory (PMem). It is possible to configure the system with 2TB of DRAM memory in an 8x 128GB set up. PMem modules can be configured in an 8x 512GB set up for 4TB of memory. Memory slots at B2 for both CPU 1 and 2 are reserved for PMem modules.
To extend the capabilities of this system there are 3x PCIe slots on each node. The first slot is PCIe 4.0 x16 (low-profile slot). The second slot is for an Advanced Input/Output Module (AIOM) that will allow for greater connectivity to peripheral tools. And the final slot is an optional Host Bus Adapter which connects to block level storage.
Managing the system is achieved through the provided software such as Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), Intel Node Manager, Supermicro Power Manager (SPM), Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0, Watch Dog, and SuperDoctor 5. SuperDoctor 5 allows for remote management through email alerts and provides inventory and metrics concerning fan speed, system temperature, and potential system failures.
The Supermicro FatTwin SuperServer F620P3-RTBN is a 4U chassis which holds 4x server nodes. Each node is a dual socket system compatible with either 1x or 2x Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 3rd generation. The sockets support 8x DIMM slots each for a total of 16 DIMM slots on the node, plus there are 8x 3.5-inch drive bays.
