Supporting up to 4x GPUs in a 2U form factor, the Supermicro GPU SuperServer ARS-221GL-NR features an energy efficient NVIDIA Grace CPU Superchip with 144 physical cores and 288 virtual threads. It offers the fastest GPU to GPU communication with NVIDIA NVLink support. Delivering minimal latency and maximum power efficiency the system supports either 480GB or 240GB of LPDDR5X memory integrated with the Grace CPU and storage provided by 8x hot swap E1.S NVMe bays.
This platform is designed to support high-performance computing applications including AI, deep learning training, natural language processing, in addition to general purpose CPU workloads like analytics, data science, simulation and general application support. Nvidia recently entered the CPU market promoting their NVIDIA Grace CPU with an ARM based design. It is based on the NVIDIA Hopper GPU in combination with NVIDIA Grace CPU to create a single superchip connecting the two chips with a 900GB/s link. The Supermicro ARS-221GL-NR server also features an NVIDIA BlueField-3 Data Processing Unit (DPU) for the most demanding accelerated workloads The DPU offers a 400 Gb/s infrastructure compute platform combining high-speed networking with extensive programmability for AI, hybrid cloud, plus HPC and 5G wireless networks. The CPU is air cooled with a thermal design power range of up to 500W.
The Supermicro SuperServer ARS-221GL-NR also features 7x PCIe 5.0 x16 expansion slots. Management of the system is provided by Supermicros SuperDoctor 5, Watch Dog and a few others. Basic network connectivity is provided by a 10GbE BaseT interface with support for IPMI 2.0 featuring virtual media over LAN and KVM-over-LAN support. Out of Band (OOB) management of the system is through a licensed OOB Management package. Power is provided by up to 4x 2000W Redundant Titanium level PSUs.
