Designed for High-Performance Computing and AI/Deep learning workloads, the Supermicro GPU SuperServer 420GP-TNAR is dual-socket system compatible with 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. There are a total of 32x DIMM slots on the system board evenly divided between each CPU socket. The front of the system houses 6x hybrid 2.5-inch drive bays. 2x M.2 NVMe or SATA3 drives can be installed on the system board. The supported GPU on this system is the HGX A100 8-GPU SXM4 Multi-GPU board featuring NVLink with NVSwitch.
*This system is only sold completely assembled with a minimum of 2x CPU, 4x DIMMs, 1x NVIDIA DELTA HGX GPU Baseboard, 8 A100 80GB SXM4 , and 1x storage device installed.
A maximum of 40x Physical Cores and 80x Virtual Threads are supported by each 3rd gen Intel Xeon Scalable CPU. Core counts from 8x to 40x Physical Cores with thread counts from at 16x to 80 Virtual Threads, per processor are supported. Due to the hardware specification of the Supermicro GPU 420GP-TNAR Server the Thermal Design Point (TDP) of the CPU is limited to 270W.
Storage options on the Supermicro SuperServer 420GP-TNAR include 6x hot-swappable NVMe/SATA/SAS drive bays on the front of the chassis. 2x M.2 NVMe or SATA3 can be installed on the system board to provide fast access storage or can be used to host the Operating System in mirror mode.
When both processors are installed, there are 32x active DIMM slots on the Supermicro 420GP-TNAR Server. Both Registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) and Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs) are compatible with this system. The maximum memory capacity on this system when using DRAM modules is 8TB when in an 32x 256GB DRAM configuration. When using a combination of DRAM modules with 16x 512GB PMem modules the maximum capacity on this system is 12TB.
Expansion possibilities on this system include 10x PCIe 4.0 x16 Low-Profile slots. 8x of those slots are for highspeed low-profile NICs that can be used to support Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) or InfiniBand for Enhanced Data Rate at speeds of up to 100Gb/port. In addition, and NVLink board with NVSwitch technologies support up to 8x HGX A100 8-GPU SXM4 GPUs. The CPU and GPU connection is through the PCIe 4.0 x16 CPU-to-GPU interconnect, while the GPU-GPU connect is via the NVIDIA NVLINK with NVSwitch.
