The Supermicro GPU SuperServer 421GE-TNRT3 is an Intel-based, 24-bay server designed for high-performance applications such as cloud gaming, 3D rendering, virtualization, and diagnostic imaging. This 4U server supports dual 4th and 5th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, offering up to 64 cores and 128 threads. It accommodates a thermal design power (TDP) range of up to 350W with air cooling or 385W with optional liquid cooling.
The Supermicro GPU SuperServer 421GE-TNRT3 is equipped with a daughter board that can house up to 8x double-width or 8x single-width GPUs. This dual root system features a PCIe 5.0 x16 CPU-to-GPU interconnect, and an optional NVIDIA NVLink Bridge for enhanced GPU performance. Compatible GPUs include the NVIDIA H100, NVIDIA RTX A4000, NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Generation, NVIDIA L40S, and NVIDIA A100.
Up to 32x DDR5 DIMMs can be installed for a total of up to 8TB of memory. Depending on the installed CPU, memory modules and memory configuration, the system can support memory speeds of up to 5600MT/s. It features 24x hot-swappable 2.5” drive bays on the front, including 16x bays dedicated to NVMe drives, with support for Gen5 NVMe, SAS3, and SATA4. Additionally, there are dual M.2 NVMe slots on the motherboard for 2280 or 22110 form factor cards, ideally to boot the operating system. For expansion, the server includes 7x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots controlled by CPU 1 and 6x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots controlled by CPU 2. It is equipped with 4x 2700W redundant Titanium-rated power supplies, ensuring reliable and efficient power delivery.
To efficiently monitor and update the GPU SuperServer 421GE-TNRT3, both at-chassis and remotely, several management tools are available, including Supermicro SuperDoctor 5 (SD5), Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), and SuperServer Automation Assistant (SAA). The SuperServer Automation Assistant (SAA) is a command-line interface (CLI) tool that allows users to update individual nodes or entire data centers.
