The Supermicro Hyper SuperServer 220HE-FTNRD is a dual socket system designed for 5G Core and Edge applications, AI Inference and Machine Learning, Network Function Virtualization, and Cloud Computing. Fully configured, this system supports up to 12TB of memory and features 6x hot-swappable hybrid drive bays. Compute is provided by dual 3rd gen Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs.
Addressing Internet of Things (IoT), edge, and 5G Cores applications, the Supermicro Hyper SuperServer 220HE-FTNRD is a dual socket system compatible with 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. A total of 32x DIMM slots on the system board are evenly divided between each CPU socket to support a large compliment of memory. Fully configured, this system will support up to 12TB of memory, including Intel Optane memory modules. On the rear of the system, 6x hot-swappable 2.5-inch hybrid drive bays support NVMe or SATA drive formats. The front of the system houses 3x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots with GPU/Accelerator support.
Powered by 1x or 2x 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the hardware configuration on this system supports CPUs with a Thermal Design Point (TDP) of 270W. This TDP includes all SKUs in the 3rd gen lineup enabling 8x to 40x physical cores and 16x to 80x virtual threads per CPU. Each active CPU socket supports 4x PCIe Gen4 expansion slots for a total of 8x expansion slots on the system.
6x 2.5-inch hot-swappable NVMe/SATA drive bays are accessible from the rear of the system. In addition, there are 2x M.2 NVMe or SATA3 slots available on the system board for fast access storage or OS installation.
With both CPU sockets active, there are 32x DIMM slots available on the Supermicro Hyper 220HE-FTNRD. The memory module slots are compatible with 3200MHz ECC DDR4 Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) or Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM). Intel Optane Persistent Memory (PMem) modules are also supported on this system. There are two options for maximum memory capacity on this system. The first option is 8TB using 32x 256GB RDIMM/LRDIMM modules while the second option is 12TB using 16x 512GB PMem modules paired with 16x 256GB RDIMM/LRDIMM modules.
System expansion is achieved through 8x PCIe 4.0 expansion slots. In order to have all of them active both CPU sockets needed to be populated with a processor. 2x Advanced I/O modules (AIOM) that are OCP 3.0 compatible provide flexible networking options that won’t take aways from the standard PCIe slots. These AIOM slots can be outfitted with many options such as 2x 25GbE SFP28 with Broadcom BCM57414 or 4x 25GbE RJ45/SFP28 with Mellanox CX-4 Lx EN Intel X550-AT2 among others. Up to 3x GPUs or Accelerators can be installed on this system using the x16 PCIe 4.0 slots.
Supermicro provides a suite of management software which includes the Intel Node Manager, the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0, NMI, SSM, SPM, SUM. SuperDoctor 5, and WatchDog are proprietary software suites that provide Administrators with tools to effectively manage the supermicro 220HE-FTNRD server at chassis or remotely.
The Supermicro Hyper SuperServer 220HE-FTNRD supports dual 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with a maximum memory capacity of up to 8TB using standard DIMMs or up to 12TB using persistent memory 200 series modules. There are 6x 2.5-inch hybrid hot-swappable drive bays on the rear of the system. This platform can also be outfitted with GPUs and computational accelerators.
