The Supermicro MicroBlade MBI-6128R-T2 server blade features dual processors and supports up to 256GB of memory. This MicroBlade is designed to be housed in the MBE-628E or the MBE-314E enclosure that provides all the power, cooling, management, and networking functions.
The Supermicro MicroBlade MBI-6128R-T2 blade server delivers two-socket performance for applications ranging from common business applications to high-performance computing. This particular blade supports 1GbE, while a second blade with the same name and the suffix T2X supports 10GbE. This MicroBlade server can be supported in two separate chassis configurations, a 3U version that supports 14 MicroBlades, the MBE-314E enclosure, and a 6U version that supports 28 MicroBlades, the MBE-628L enclosure. MicroBlade servers enable Administrators to rapidly scale as business needs change. This solution offers the highest density for an enclosure with up to 196 Xeon processors per 42U rack contained in up to seven separate enclosures. This system is ideal for data centers and cloud computing applications.
Intel's C612 chipset supports a maximum of two Intel Xeon E5-2600 V3 or E5-2600 v4 processors with up to 18 cores and 45MB cache. Administrators can start out with just a single processor and add a second at a later date.
Each processor supports four memory slots for a total of eight memory slots in a two processor configuration. With two processors, the system will support a maximum of 256GB of memory using 32GB registered (RDIMM) memory modules. All DIMM modules installed on the system should be of the same size and type of memory module to achieve the best performance.
A maximum of two, non-hot swap 2.5-inch internally mounted SATA3 HDD/SSDs, and one SATA DOM are supported on the Supermicro MBI-6128R-T2 blade server. The SATA DOM is a Disk on Module uses flash memory, similar to an M.2 storage device and can support up to 128GB. The SATA DOM can be inserted directly into a SATADOM port located on the system board and can be used for either additional storage or to support the installed OS. With only two hard drives the system can only be configured for RAID 0 or 1.
Network communications are handled by an embedded 4 x 1Gb/s network interface controller (NIC).
Management of the MicroBlade is provided by the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) which interfaces at the enclosure level by connecting with up to two Chassis Management Modules.
The Supermicro MicroBlade MBI-6128R-T2 server blade is capable of addressing several different workloads depending on the configuration. This high-density solution is a perfect fit for cloud applications and data center deployments.
