The single-socket Supermicro Storage SuperServer 521E-E1CR24L supports a 4th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor, as well as 5th generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs, with a TDP of up to 300W. When all 16x memory module slots are populated with 256GB RDIMMs, this system can be outfitted with up to 4TB of DDR5 memory. There are 12x 3.5" hot-swap SATA3/SAS3 drive bays lining the front of the chassis with another set of 12x sitting right behind in a pop up drive cage. An additional 2x 2.5" hot-swap SATA3 drives can be found in the rear with the option to add 4x more NVMe drive bays for 30 drive bays total.
The Supermicro 521E-E1CR24L is a versatile system with many features designed for data processing and storage, corporate databases, and iSCSI SAN. In addition to the high-density storage, the system has 2x internal SATA3 or NVMe M.2 slots that can be used to boot the system. The back of this machine allows access to a dedicated PCIe 5.0 x16 AIOM slot, which is OCP 3.0 SFF compliant. Up to 6x PCIe 5.0 slots are present but slot #2 is populated by a Broadcom 3908 controller by default. A dedicated RJ45 IPMI LAN port to manage the system provides KVM over LAN and media over LAN support. 2x SuperDOM ports are also available providing options for additional storage or to boot the system. The server also has two redundant 1600W Titanium level (96%) power supplies.
