Supporting dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processors enables up to 3TB of memory for advanced computation. This flexible server platform can be configured with SAS or SATA storage and offers 4x GbE ports for network connectivity. Power is provided by dual redundant 1+1 Platinum level 750W PSUs.

With a thermal design point of 160W, CPUs with up to 22 physical cores and a 55MB cache can be installed. These processors support a PCIe 3.0 bus and 4-memory channel architecture.
24x DDR4 DIMM slots on the system board are divided equally between the two CPU sockets. With 4-memory channels to work with, each slot will support 3x DIMMs for a total capacity of up to 3TB of memory using 3DS ECC Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) DIMMs. Standard Registered (RDIMM) or LRDIMM modules will provide up to 1.5TB of memory at capacity. Memory speeds of 2133MHz, 1833MHz, and 1600MHz are supported. Non-Volatile DIMMs (NVDIMM) are also supported.
The 10x storage bays lining the front of the Supermicro SuperServer 1028U-E1CR4 support SATA3 or SAS3 drive types via an expander paired with an add-on-card (AOC). SATA drives are supported by the onboard C612 chipset offering RAID configurations of 0, 1, 5, or 10. SAS drives require the expander and AOC but offer a full range of RAID options and transfer speeds of 12Gb/s.
There are 4x PCIe slots on the system with 2x full-height PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and 2x PCIe 3.0 x8 slots. 4x 1Gb Ethernet LAN ports on the back of the chassis provide integrated network connectivity which can be augmented with advanced I/O cards (AIOC) offering optional ports and connection speeds.
An Aspeed AST2400 baseboard management controller (BMC) is accessed through the RJ45 port on the back of the system compatible with IPMI 2.0 standards. It features virtual media over LAN and KVM-over-LAN support. Software or managing the system includes SuperDoctor5 (SD5) watch Dog, and the Intel Node Manager 3.0 among others. The OOB Management Package is offered on a per node license basis and enables control of BIOS plus the BMC remotely.
