Designed for use as a high-end enterprise server or for extreme virtualization or cloud computing, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029U-E1CRT delivers dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors and up to 6TB of memory in a 1U chassis. 10x hot swap storage bays line the front of the system and supports SATA3 and SAS3 drives using an optional PCIe HD/RAID controller.
Part of Supermicro’s Ultra server line, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029U-E1CRT features dual 10Gb Ethernet ports on the back of the system.
*The system comes with a minimum of 2 CPUs, 4 DIMMs and a storage add-on-card.
Both first- and second-generation intel Xeon Scalable processors are supported with only second gen processors supporting the top memory speed of 2933MT/s, and up to 6TB in a two-processor configuration using “L” suffix processors. Alternatively, first generation processors support memory speeds of up to 2666MHz, and will only provide a maximum of 3TB using “M” suffix processors. While two processors are supported on this system, if you should incorporate a GPU, you will be limited to processors with a TDP of no more than 165W
3DS Registered (RDIMM) and Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules are supported in varying quantities depending on the installed processors. Non-volatile (NVDIMM) memory modules are only compatible with first generation processors, while Intel Optane data center persistent memory modules (DCPMM) are only supported using second-generation processors. Memory speeds is a factor of the supported speed of the memory modules and the CPU, and default to the slower of the two. The maximum supported memory of a little more than 6TB, is only supported using second-generation intel Xeon Scalable processors with an “L” suffix, which can support up to 4.5TB per CPU.
Storage on the Supermicro 1029U-E1CRT is limited to 10x front-mounted 2.5-inch drives, either SATA3 or SAS3 using an expander board and add-on card. M.2 drives are also supported with either a specific riser or by using a PCIe add-on card. Virtual RAID on CPU is also supported using the appropriate vROC key, which can be plugged into a specific slot on the system board.
There are four expansion slots on the system including 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 and two PCIe 3.0 x8 slots. You can install 2x full-height, full-length expansion cards, or a single double-wide GPU, plus one low-profile card mounted on a riser bracket. PCIe slot one is dedicated for support of a Supermicro SAS 12Gb/s HD/RAID controller offering a limited RAID options at the lower end to a full range of options.
This system has several management features and is intelligent platform management interface (IPMI) compatible. The dedicated RJ-45 management port on the back of the system leverages the AST ASPEED 2500 controller for at chassis and remote management of the system. Other applications, like Supermicro SuperDoctor 5.0 (SD5) provide more granular management of the system.
Supermicro’s Ultra SuperServer lineup provides powerful performance to support your business needs. The Supermicro SuperServer 1029U-E1CRT is no exception, providing up to 6TB of memory when outfitted with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Generous up-front storage, with 10x drive bays gives you some breathing room to increase storage capacity.
