Designed for virtualization, cloud computing and for use as a high-end enterprise server, the 1U Supermicro SuperServer 1029U-TN10RT supports two Intel Xeon Scalable processors and up to 6TB of memory. Ten storage bays up front can be outfitted with SATA, SAS and or NVMe storage devices.
This system will provide the performance you need with help from dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors. It supports up to 6TB of memory, including Intel Optane memory, and you have options for storage, plus M.2 drives for booting the system. Both first and second-generation processors are supported but you will get the most, and fastest memory using second generation intel Scalable processors. The system is powered by dual redundant 1000W Titanium level PSUs.
*This system comes with a minimal configuration including 2x CPUs, 4x DIMM modules, and 4x NVMe drives.
Both first and second-generation intel Xeon Scalable processors are supported but only the Second-generation Scalable processors will support Intel Optane data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM) memory modules and memory speeds of up to 2966MHz.
Only the second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors will support the maximum memory of 6TB with each processor supporting 3TB of memory using “L” suffix processors. Each processor has 6x memory channels with each channel supporting 2x memory modules for 12x memory modules total per processor, and 24x total with both processors installed. Registered (RDIMM), load-reduced (LRDIMM), and data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM) are supported in varying quantities. Non-volatile (NVDIMM) modules are also supported but only using first-generation intel Xeon Scalable processors.
Ten hot-swap 2.5-inch storage bays line the front of the system and support NVME storage devices. An Ultra riser card has connections to support six of the front mounted drives. the other four hybrid ports also support SATA drives with an optional cable or SASIII using a discrete HD/RAID controller. Virtual RAID on CPU is supported for configurations using SSDs and provide limited RAID support without an add on card.
Two PCIe 3.0 x16 slots are available for support of optional components like SAS RAID controllers and faster network communications. Two M.2 storage devices can be installed in the supported riser, which features a connection on one side for a SATA drive and a PCIe M.2 on the other. The riser itself will support another add on card to connect two more NVMe drives. A PCIe add on card is required for supporting SAS or SATA drives.
The Supermicro 1029U-TN10RT is IPMI 2.0 compatible and accesses the management module through the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC). Supermicro Redfish API also helps with secure simple management for converged, hybrid IT, and Software Defined Data Center deployments. SuperDoctor 5.0 (SD5) provides a graphical interface through a standard browser for health and availability of targeted node systems in a data center environment.
For a cost effective 1U platform with dual sockets and support for up to 6TB of memory, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029U-TN10RT is an excellent choice. Outfitted with up to 10x NVMe storage devices, enables rapid, low latency data transfers along with data resiliency.
