The Supermicro SuperServer 1029U-TR4 is a 1U chassis featuring 24 memory module slots with up to 6TB of memory. Lined with 10x 2.5-inch drive bays on the front of the system, it has the flexibility to support SATA, NVMe, or SAS drives.
As part of the Ultra SuperServer family, this high-end system uses a dual processor server board based on the Intel C621 chipset to support Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 28 cores. The platform also supports four gigabit Ethernet ports and an Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) port to allow remote management of the server. The Supermicro 1029U-TR4 is ideal and customizable for your digital transformation applications like video processing, big data, and artificial intelligence. *The system is only sold with a minimum of two processors and four memory modules.
This Ultra SuperServer supports 10x 2.5-inch hot-swappable HDDs, but can also support NVMe or SAS SSDs with the appropriate add-on cards. The 1029U-TR4 server supports first-generation and second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors that can support up to 28 cores and 70-205W TDP. Each CPU supports 12x memory module slots, for a total of 24x DIMMs, with a maximum memory of 6TB. If you want the fastest and most memory, second-generation processors are required and both CPUs must be installed for full access to PCIe slots and onboard controllers.
Under the cover, the SuperServer 1029U-TR4 motherboard has 24 DIMM slots for up to 6TB of memory, but only with second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. This platform is compatible with Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM), and Intel Optane memory modules (DCPMM). Optane modules are also only supported with the second-generation Scalable processors. Second-generation processors support memory speeds of 2933MT/s, compared to first-generation processors with speeds of 2666MT/s.
Storage is provided on the front of the chassis with 10x 2.5-inch drive bays that can be configured with SATA, SAS, or NVMe SSDs. Two drive bays are hybrid ports for support of NVMe storage devices, the other eight ports can support SAS drives with an optional add-on card or SATA drives natively. You can also install up to two M.2 cards including one SATA and one PCIe M.2 via an optional add-on card.
Up to 4x PCIe 3.0 slots are available, with one set aside for a graphics card. In order to have full access to all PCIe slots and onboard controllers, both CPUs must be installed. For more storage, up to two M.2 solid state drives can be installed with an add-on card. The system also supports four 1Gb Ethernet ports and an IPMI port for remote management of the server.
Supermicro SuperDoctor 5.0 is supported to let administrators monitor the health of the system like CPU and chassis temperature, chipset voltages, and fan speed through email alerts. This management feature can also remotely control the power and reset function for multiple Supermicro systems. An Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) port located on the back of the chassis also provides remote access and monitoring for easy management.
To support all of your business needs, the 1029U-TR4 can easily adapt to the demands of any workload by offering several different storage options including SAS, SATA, NVMe and M.2. Equipped with 10x hot-swappable 2.5-inch drive bays and 24x memory module slots, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029U-TR4 is a flexible system designed for virtualization, database, and big data.
